DOWN WITH GREEK CHAUVINISM AND LEFT-WING EXTREMISM

- The Albanian government's stance on the massacre is consistent and continuous. It has often been noted, not only among Albanian socialists and communists, but also among the Albanian media, that the third media outlet in Greece, considered socialist, persistently seeks to keep the right to mass murder of Muslims at the center of attention, just as it did in the latest case, with the events of Easter Sunday. These circumstances have not escaped the attention of either Albanian public opinion or European opinion. Naturally, our national issue in Kosovo and Macedonia has been and remains a permanent concern of Albanian politics. But, on the other hand, one cannot fail to notice a systematic effort to impose a tense climate in Albanian-Greek relations, accompanied by irresponsible statements and comments. All of this, especially after the latest tragic events, has taken on even more dangerous nuances. In this context, any kind of silence or tolerance toward Greek extremism would be not only a political mistake, but also further encouragement for similar actions. Albania has no interest in worsening relations with Greece, but it has the duty to protect its citizens and to seek the truth about every crime. This is a basic requirement of a normal and democratic state. If certain circles in Greece seek to instrumentalize the internal political climate, this cannot be done at the expense of Albanian blood. The Albanian government has maintained a correct, measured, and consistent stance, calling for investigation, transparency, and accountability. Any deviation from this line would damage national interests and further feed the propaganda of Greek chauvinism. At the same time, the left-wing extremism in Albania has tried to use this tragedy for narrow political gain, attacking the government and distorting the facts. These positions serve neither the truth, nor the public interest, nor the stability of the country. On the contrary, they create a silent alliance with those who aim to weaken the Albanian state and its Western orientation.

STATEMENT OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ALBANIA

The Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic in Tirana, Mr. Alexandros Mallias, was summoned at 13:25 to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Albania, and the Secretary General of this ministry, Mr. Ksenofon Krisafi, handed him the verbal note of the Albanian government. The Government of the Republic of Albania expresses its deep indignation and strongest protest over the serious घटना that occurred on the evening of 10 April 1994, when armed persons dressed in military uniforms attacked the Albanian military post in Peshkëpi, in the district of Gjirokastër, killing two Albanian servicemen and injuring others. This incident constitutes an unacceptable terrorist act against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Albania. The Albanian government calls on the Greek authorities to take all measures to uncover and bring to justice the perpetrators of this criminal act, as well as to stop any hostile activity by extremist groups against Albania. The Government of the Republic of Albania reaffirms its will for good-neighborly relations with Greece, but stresses that such relations cannot be built on acts of terror, provocations, and chauvinist incitement. Albania will continue to defend with determination its national interests and the security of its citizens.

STATEMENT BY THE SPOKESPERSON OF THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF ALBANIA

On the misinterpretations by the Greek side- The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania stated that some reactions and comments by the Greek side regarding the Albanian government's stance on the Peshkëpi incident are inaccurate and tendentious. According to the statement, the Albanian side has from the outset called for the full clarification of the event, the punishment of the perpetrators, and the avoidance of any act that could damage bilateral relations. The misinterpretations made in certain Greek political and media circles aim to distort reality and present Albania as responsible for escalating the situation, which does not correspond to the truth. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates that the Albanian government has acted in a restrained and institutional manner and that any attempt to distort this position is unacceptable. It calls on the Greek authorities and public opinion in Greece not to fall prey to the propaganda of extremist circles and to contribute to preserving normal and civilized relations between the two countries.

AT THE GREAT HISTORICAL TURNING POINTS, DOLLS ALWAYS END TRAGICALLY

No matter the setting and the times, for the figure of a person with particular difficulty in understanding historical developments, the metaphor of the doll is always relevant. In periods of great turning points, such people are used, brought onto the stage, moved around for a short time, and then thrown aside. History knows many such examples. When political personality is lacking and servility takes the place of conviction, the end is usually the same: tragic. In difficult circumstances for the country, when clarity, courage, and responsibility are required, those who try to play a role without any real weight also come to the fore. Such people often become tools of stronger currents, serving, knowingly or unknowingly, purposes that go against the public interest. The public, after a while, recognizes them and rejects them. That is why the great historical turning points do not forgive dolls. Iron with a 2-channel face
