BERISHA IN THE REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA
-From President Sali Berisha's visit to Sofia
-If in 1991 the Albanians came to us to gain experience, today in 1994 we must go to our neighbors to gain market experience in economic reform.
Greece. After the visit to the historical museum, Mr. Zhelev and Mr. Berisha visited the University of Sofia, where together they paid tribute before the statue of Saint Clement of Ohrid and laid floral wreaths. At the ceremony held on this occasion, Mr. Berisha said that he valued with great satisfaction the honors paid to him at the center of the famous institution, with its 1,000-year history. Speaking on behalf of the students, Professor Kulev expressed to Mr. Berisha the pleasure of his presence at the University of Sofia, on behalf of the students and professors. Afterwards, Mr. Berisha gave a lecture with students and teachers. In the conference hall, Mr. Berisha held a meeting with several MPs, senior state officials, and leading figures of the opposition. In his speech, the Albanian president praised Albanian-Bulgarian relations as very good, based on mutual respect for independence and territorial integrity. Further, he valued the role of the two countries as a factor of stability in the Balkans. Mr. Berisha spoke about the efforts made to reorient the Albanian economy toward the market and about the progress of the reforms. He called for the universities of Albania and Bulgaria to expand cooperation in the fields of science and culture. The meeting, which lasted more than an hour, took place in a very warm and cordial atmosphere. Afterwards, at the presidential palace, Mr. Berisha was received by the Bulgarian president, Mr. Zhelev. The two presidents held a one-to-one meeting and then an official meeting with the respective delegations. At the joint press conference after the meeting, the Bulgarian president, Mr. Zhelev, said: “Relations between our countries have traditionally been very good. We fully support Albania's efforts for integration into Europe and are convinced that democratic and economic developments in Albania will contribute significantly to the stability of the region.” President Berisha thanked them for the hospitality and said that Albania and Bulgaria would always be friendly countries and partners in European integration processes. He praised bilateral cooperation in the economic, trade, and cultural fields. During his stay in Sofia, Mr. Berisha also met with the chairman of the Bulgarian Parliament and with representatives of political forces. At the end of his visit, he said that the Bulgarian experience of transition was of interest to Albania.
THE VISIBLE IMPULSE OF THE RELATIONS BETWEEN ALBANIA AND BULGARIA
-The speech by Mr. Berisha in the Bulgarian Parliament-
Your Excellency, Chairman of the People's Assembly, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, These days, we Albanians remember with reverence the events of December 1990, when our students and our people dared to put an end to the communist dictatorship. Allow me to express my pleasure at being here today before you, in a pluralist parliament, representing a friendly people. This visit is of special importance to us because it comes at a time when relations between Albania and Bulgaria are undergoing a new development. Albania and Bulgaria are today in an important phase of political and economic reforms. For us, the transition from the totalitarian system to a democratic society and market economy has been a difficult but necessary process. Along this path we have encountered great difficulties, but we have preserved our determination to move forward. The Albanian people have shown extraordinary patience, maturity, and willpower. Today we are convinced that the path of reform is irreversible. Albanian-Bulgarian relations are based on mutual respect, good neighborliness, and shared interests. I am convinced that there is great potential for expanding cooperation in the fields of trade, transport, culture, education, and science. We see Bulgaria as an important partner in the region and in Southeast Europe. I believe that stability in the Balkans requires cooperation, understanding, and respect for human rights and the rights of national minorities. Albania supports peaceful solutions to conflicts and the promotion of democratic processes in the region. In this framework, our cooperation with Bulgaria is a positive factor. Thank you for your hospitality and for your attention.

RUÇI-DOKLE ORGANIZERS OF THE SECRET ALIA-NANO MEETING
What has been made public for "ZP" over several consecutive days has been spread in detail, "the affair of the secret meeting of Alia with Nano," organized in Pogradec at the end of February, with the knowledge of the chairman of the PS, Fatos Nano. Although there have been quite a few rumors about this meeting, with the insistence of "ZH" and the help of the weighty witnesses to this affair, the public opinion has become more closely acquainted with the truth. We wrote yesterday that the main organizer and sponsor of this meeting was the mayor of Pogradec, Ylli Kalliri. Naturally, the place where it took place was also Ylli Kalliri's privatized club, "Europa", where the doctor of this city also participated. Perhaps the name of this doctor has not become known well enough, but if all the testimonies and suspicions regarding his activity are gathered in one place, it appears that he is at the height of the leadership of socialist ideology. "ZP" is bringing not only details of this affair, but today with this material we are publishing the testimony of one of the participants in this meeting. According to the testimony, in order to organize the meeting and avoid any publicity, other well-known socialist figures were also involved, among them Gramoz Ruçi and Namik Dokle. According to this testimony, with a car with blacked-out windows and Tirana license plates, important people from the PS entered the premises of the "Europa" club in the evening. According to the testimony, scenarios for the return of the left to power and for the coordination of the positions of socialist leaders were discussed at this meeting. The witness says that the possibility was also discussed of bringing people close to Ramiz Alia closer to the group of Fatos Nano. At the end of the article, the author promises that in the future he will publish other facts and testimonies on this issue. CONTINUES
