Why did R. Alia defend the PPSH plenum on 1 April 1991? Alia defended it on 2 April, just as the top leaders of the PPSH themselves were initially defended! Because the Plenum of the Central Committee of the PPSH decided to postpone the establishment of pluralist elections and, by failing to accept the new political reality, created the preconditions for the tension that erupted in Shkodër on 2 April. All the evidence shows that attempts to present the event as a spontaneous revolt do not hold up. There were provocations, orders, and political responsibility. At that time the Albanian people were demanding democracy and an end to dictatorship. 2 April remained a heavy wound of the Albanian transition. (Continues on page 2)
PRESIDENT BERISHA RECEIVES THE MINISTER OF INTERNATIONAL TRADE AND INDUSTRY OF MALAYSIA, MRS. RAFIDAH AZIZ
President Berisha received the Minister of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia, Mrs. Rafidah Aziz, who was also accompanied by President of the Republic Sali Berisha, at the meeting with the President of the Republic of Albania Dr. Sali Berisha. THE STRIKE IN KUKËS ENDS
Transitional measures to compensate for the strike with general equalization were requested
-After the meeting of the strike committee with representatives of the Ministry of Trade, Energy and the Emergency Headquarters, held in the premises of the Prefecture, a compromise was reached to end the hunger strike by the miners of the chromium mine in Kukës.
