PAPULIAS OFFICIALLY APPROVES PROPOSAL MADE BY SERBIOI
Statement by the spokesperson of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Statement by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Against the backdrop of the Serbo-Greek conflict over the Macedonian presidency, the spokesperson of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kostas Bikas, said: “Yesterday we presented to the Cretan President our proposal for talks in the spirit of respecting each other's freedom, integrity and independence, on the basis of the Security Council resolutions and recognition of the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of the former Yugoslav Federation of Macedonia”. The Greek government, said Mr. Bikas, has already asked Brussels, London, Paris, Bonn, Vienna, Moscow and Washington to examine the proposal. He reiterated that “The aim is neither the recognition of the neighboring state nor its forgiveness.” Continuing his remarks, the spokesperson said that Athens is yielding on the issue of the name compromise. “He made it clear that this state would be recognized not by its constitutional name, but by a temporary designation and with no going back.” According to Mr. Bikas, the final solution will include worldwide recognition of the new name by all countries. On 16 May in Istanbul, the Greek deputy foreign minister, Jorgo Romeos, said that for the first time Greece would accept addressing Skopje with a designation different from the official one “if with this name that state is also accepted by international bodies, provided that the Slavic people retain their own Slavic name”.

FROM THE SPEECH OF MR. EDUARD SELAMI
The chairman of the DPA, Mr. Eduard Selami, in the commune of Reç
The people of Reç are a people of patriots and brave men; they have been ahead of and supportive of the PD. - We have not promised and do not promise miracles, but what we have said, we have kept and will keep. - Two socialists declare that they will vote for the PD. FROM THE SPEECH OF MR. EDUARD SELAMI On 17 May, Mr. Sali Berisha, President of the Republic, accompanied by Mr. Eduard Selami, Secretary General of the Council of Ministers in charge of local government and cooperatives, Mr. Niko Veizi, MP Gjekë Gjonaj and the candidate for commune chairman in Reç, Pjetër Gjonaj, met with the inhabitants of the commune of Reç, Shkodër district. In his speech, Mr. Selami praised the inhabitants of this area with strong patriotic and social traditions, saying that “this people has been ahead of and has given support to the Democratic Party”. He then turned to the elections of 26 June, emphasizing that “The Democratic Party won power thanks to the people's trust and not through violence, unfounded promises and empty words, as our opponents say”. “The PD,” said Mr. Selami, “has its source of strength in the support of the people. We came to power not with beautiful slogans but with the free vote. Our government has taken power by vote and by vote it can also relinquish it.” After that he explained that “The Democratic Party has not promised and does not promise miracles; we have only asked and will ask for the trust of citizens in order to do what is possible for the good of the homeland”. Further on, Mr. Selami informed the residents about the government's latest decisions for the private sector, considering them necessary to give the economy, and especially agriculture, a chance to develop. Referring to Albania's progress in these last two years, he stressed that “today the foundations have been laid for a free and entirely new economy”. Continuing his speech, Mr. Selami denounced the propaganda and unfounded accusations of the Socialist Party, which tries to hide its anti-national past. “If the socialists were ever to win the elections, there is no force in the world that could make them keep their promises, as they are doing today with the teachers' strike and with the instigators of the violent demonstration of 22 November.” After mentioning the figures for economic development and especially the growth of agricultural production in Reç and throughout the Shkodër district, he stressed that “the Democratic Party is determined to do everything to help Albanian farmers and that the government led by it will remain a supporter of capable farmers”. Concluding his remarks, Mr. Selami said that “the socialists are making deception fashionable. They are lying to people with demagogic promises, but the people know how to distinguish their intentions. They are the offspring of the communist past and cannot bring anything good to the country.” At the meeting with the inhabitants of Reç, two socialists declared that they were leaving that party and that they would vote for the Democratic Party in the elections of 26 June.

FIELD OF ACTION FOR JUSTICE
-From a stripping operation worth 40 million dollars Luiza e Acuiles, at 26 years old, was holding an automatic carbine to her face, while on her arms Plendo Gjegjës saw the handcuffs. Fredi threw the gun into the street and came out with his hands up. The four of them were arrested. Then at 23:40 the militiamen sprayed a burst of bullets over the police. Three of them were killed. Where was the gang leader? In an industrialist's secret pocket they had hidden 4.7 billion lire. The police confiscators came out with them. A week after the arrest, on 13 May 1989, the steps of the court in Salerno were stained with the blood of deputy prosecutor Francisco Galli. For experts, the murder trail led to the gang of specialists in international heroin trafficking. “The money will be returned to Albania” ... In a long and detailed report, the Italian police describes down to the economic cells of the high criminal organization. At its center, an invisible pocket of funds that absorbed profits from heroin, weapons and smuggling. The gang had links with Albania. Correspondent of “RD”
BETTINO CRAXI IS WANTED
Is breathlessness the next problem? Among the clothing, seized by the Italian police, such a forged passport was found in the name of “Luigi Paris”, with a photo of Bettino Craxi but with the profession “stivatore de porto”, which writes at the port of headphones. So they keep doing it. He was apparently in Bonifacio, in Corsica. He was supposed to catch next Wednesday’s ferry. According to the police commander in Palermo, the state of alarm remains. He may still be in Tunisia, where he is hiding behind a known protection network. “We have reliable evidence that he was here until 6 May,” the authorities said. The search continues. On 23 May a conference on crime will be held in Chicago. Will he be present? According to the Italian press, a return by him would trigger a political crisis. Correspondent of “RD”

WHAT MUST BE SEEN ABOVE ALL ELSE OPULE WHAT THE PEOPLE WANTED THE PARTY OF RAMIZ DID
- This week, the first weekly newspaper of the students came out in circulation. “Rinia” with the title “More bread and less brains”, an article with supposedly critical content, but in essence against democratic reforms. These are the leftovers of yesterday's propaganda. Ordinary people understand that Ramiz's time has passed. Those who today present themselves as critics were yesterday tools of the system. “Rinia” is trying to revive the old spirit. People are no longer deceived. (ATSH)

DURING THIS PART OF THE CASTLE
In ward 5 of Kavajë, recently the candidate No. 3 on the Socialist Party list for this district declared that the workers will remove everything. At the meeting on the 15th with socialist councillors and activists from the center of Kavajë, he devoted almost the entire part to this problem. “Where will these people find their way?” he asked. There were others too, who trembled when they heard about the battle. The replacement with the director, created after the class struggle, has been absurd. The government has left operation to the market. Those who live from their own work will understand who defends their interest. Otherwise, hope remains in vain. (ATSH)
MR. CEKA SEES DREAMS IN THE SUN
In an interview given to the newspaper “Koha jonë”, Ad[s?]m Ceka [?], one of the people close to the satrap Fatos Nano, made an unrestrained statement. He says that the Socialist Party will take power and that the democrats will answer before justice. The newspaper “RD” calls this a dream in the sun. According to it, Albanians will not allow the return of those who crushed their freedoms. Socialist propaganda cannot replace the reality of the changes made in these years. The people will decide by vote, not by political fantasy. (ATSH)
