Rilindja Demokratike

E martë 13 dhjetor 1994

The Democratic Party does not see merely a political force, but a historic opportunity, a national vision, a path rightly begun toward the citizen’s freedom and rightly toward the citizen’s freedom, toward success and toward tomorrow’s Europe

. For the first time in many decades, Albania is moving along a secure path toward democratic reforms and a market economy. In this sense, the role of the Democratic Party is presented as decisive in guaranteeing the continuity of change and the strengthening of free institutions. This political force sees itself not simply as one party among others, but as a bearer of the ideals of freedom, civic responsibility, and European integration. Within this vision, the citizen is at the center of every policy. His freedom, his property, his dignity, and his chance to build the future through honest work form the foundation of a new society. Democracy cannot be merely an electoral formula; it must be embodied in political culture, in administration, in justice, and in everyday life. The Democratic Party considers this path a national duty. Europe is not just a geographic orientation, but a civilizational choice. Albania needs strong institutions, a functioning economy, and free citizens in order to become part of it with dignity. Only then will the sacrifices made in these years not have been in vain.

Let us not allow totalitarian ideology to degenerate into aggressive rationalization

, Freedom cannot be built on forgetting. Societies that have suffered totalitarianism must preserve memory, condemn the moral and political crimes of the past, and reject any attempt to relativize them. Only in this way can a lasting democratic culture be built. Totalitarian ideology, even when presented under the guise of cold reasoning or political realism, carries within it the danger of the return of authoritarianism and the denial of the individual. Therefore it is the duty of politics, schools, and civil society to defend historical truth. (Continued on page 2) Ladies and gentlemen[?]
