Albania is not a country forgotten by foreign investors

page 4 Albania, as before, will continue to enjoy the full support of the American administration President of the Republic Sali Berisha for the delegation of senior officials of the Parliament of the state of Wisconsin from the state administrator for affairs and Canada, Mr. Xarid Holibrik PD SPOKESPERSON SHKOL VALLA President Sali Berisha received yesterday a delegation of senior officials from the parliament of the American state of Wisconsin, led by the state administrator for affairs and Canada, Mr. Xarid Holibrik. Dr. Sali Berisha expressed his pleasure at this visit, through which representatives of important American institutions are becoming closely acquainted with Albania and the dynamics of its development. President Berisha particularly dwelt on the progress our country has made in its democratic transformation. He emphasized the major advances made in the functioning of the market economy, the growth of industrial and agricultural production, and the significant progress in improving infrastructure, making Albania a country with great investment potential. He then underlined that many of the positive results of the reforms in Albania are coming as a result of successes in the ongoing fight against corruption and crime. At the press conference, the American state administrator for affairs and Canada, Holibrik, emphasized that the Albanian economy is doing very well, suggesting that it could become quite interesting for foreign investors. “I am proud to visit a free and democratic Albania” The press, the economy and all aspects of Albanian life are moving forward. The government is taking great steps to break away from the past. We understand that economic and political progress are moving in parallel. We have followed with great interest the course of democratic processes in Albania,” he said. President Berisha expressed his gratitude for the United States’ continued support for Albania on the road to building democratic institutions. Referring to Nano’s visit to the United States and to the position of the American Congress and State Department toward the Albanian opposition, President Berisha said that two of the most important American personalities, Senator Bob Dole and the Congressman of Albanian origin, Joseph DioGuardi, expressed the same view that Mr. Nano has a suspicious past and that he has been accused as a possible UDB agent. President Berisha thanked Senator Dole for the interest shown in Albania, for the treatment of the Albanian issue in the UN Security Council, and for his role in lifting the embargo on the republics of the former Yugoslavia that were attacked militarily by Serbia. President Berisha also informed the American delegation that Albania never aims to use violence against its neighbors, but to resolve the Albanian question as a whole through peaceful means. Regarding the US position on the Kosovo issue, he said that more and more, in American official circles, the view is gaining ground that “Kosovo Republic” is the only realistic and sustainable solution in the region. American official Holibrik said that he supports the creation of economic, trade and cultural relations between Albania and Wisconsin. He encouraged the development of all possible exchanges as a way of helping the country’s democratization process. At the same time, he assessed that it is in the interest of building as many relations as possible with American businessmen and, according to him, this will help create a more suitable climate for foreign investment. The press, the economy and all aspects of Albanian life are moving forward. The government is taking great steps to break away from the past. We understand that economic and political progress are moving in parallel.
