Albanians are more than others optimistic and believe that the country's direction is right

The PS press's daily “industry” seeks the danger of misinterpreting the Eurobarometer The fact that optimism, Albania's future, and Albanians' trust in the government and parliament are being talked about, written about, and promoted so much in our country is shown by this very survey. Strangely, the two opposition newspapers “Zëri i Popullit” and “Koha Jonë” have tried to present Europe in a perspective where people are disappointed with their lives and where, according to them, Albania ranks last. According to them, this survey places us last, because 67 percent of Albanians are dissatisfied. But the truth is that the Eurobarometer data show exactly the opposite. THE COUNTRY'S DIRECTION — RIGHT OR WRONG GREECE 49 CZECH REPUBLIC 57 ESTONIA 50 SLOVENIA 33 ROMANIA 48 POLAND 37 BULGARIA 46 HUNGARY 50 SLOVAKIA 64 LITHUANIA 58 22 24 25 24 42 45 37 33 24 22 52 32 33 37 48 46 50 64 63 52 We believe that every Albanian should have it clear that the results of Eurobarometer 11 and the OECD panel on the attitudes of populations toward governments, democracy and the economy do not place Albania at the bottom of the list for dissatisfaction; on the contrary, they show it as a country where there is still much hope for the future and where support for reforms remains high. A very meaningful indicator is the question about the country's direction: a very large part of Albanians think the country is moving in the right direction. This perception is linked to the changes that took place after the pluralist elections, to the opening of the economy, and to expectations of European integration. The opposition newspapers have tried to stress only the negative elements, ignoring the aspects in which Albania appears more optimistic than the other countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

The doctrine of deception has become the general motto of the communist greed of “ZP”, especially that of “KJ”

Reply to the spokesperson of “ZP” The purpose and the meaning of the conclusion presented by us (in the newspaper “RD”, dated 2 March), entitled “Dog's nose, unintentionally they touched the big hair of the OECD ear”, was to present, in the language of facts and accurate figures, the objective result of the opinion survey and to identify the wrong theses with which part of the opposition press has manipulated the Albanian reader. It is clear that, from the cited materials and from the comparison with the other countries of Central and Eastern Europe, Albania does not emerge as the most pessimistic country; on the contrary, in some indicators it appears among the most optimistic. Instead of entering into the debate over the figures, “ZP” and its allies, especially “KJ”, use slander, irony and deliberate distortion. This way of political and media debate shows a poor culture of argument and a desire to preserve, at any cost, the prearranged political theses. From reading their articles, it emerges that the main purpose is not to inform the public, but to create an atmosphere of distrust toward reforms, institutions and the very possibility of progress. This is an old strategy of communist propaganda, which tries to darken every positive development and inflate every problem for political purposes. If they were truly interested in the truth, they would publish all the data and not only the fragments that suit them. But precisely here lies the essence of their deception.

The amount of Albania's gold stolen in the Greco-Italian war is unblocked

Two days ago, the USA, and specifically the office of the State Department responsible for the issue of monetary gold in Europe, sent the Albanian government very good news. 51 years after the end of the Greco-Italian war and 53 years after the decisions of the Tripartite Commission on Monetary Gold, the bureaucratic delay over a matter of particular importance to the Albanian economy comes to an end. This decision opens the way for the return of a quantity of gold that belonged to the Albanian state and had remained blocked for decades. According to official sources, the issue had been under long international review and the involvement of the American authorities helped break the procedural deadlock. This development is regarded as a diplomatic and financial success for official Tirana.

and the spokesperson of the Greek MFA, Bikas , the statements by the spokesperson of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bikas, have drawn particular attention. According to him, the Greek side remains interested in developing talks in a constructive climate, while also emphasizing the issues that Athens considers important in bilateral relations. On the other hand, in Tirana the meeting is expected to be seen as an opportunity to take the normalization of relations further and to overcome inherited historical and political burdens. Observers consider this moment important for the regional climate.
