A major achievement in Albania’s integration into Europe

The laws and reforms in Albania are in accordance with the general principles of the Council of Europe and the European Conventions LORENCI GJONI Two, Europe’s political, cultural, economic, legal and administrative institutions are helping Albania’s integration into its structures. To speak today about reform in Albania means to speak about the transformations of the constitution, the economy, society, the administration and the rule of law, which are bringing our country closer to Europe. What emerges as interesting is the fact that, within the framework of state administration reform, Albania is taking important measures to reform the legal system and labor relations. Addressing the problems of codifying the law and aligning it with European standards, that is, with the law of the European Community, it is emphasized that initiatives for legal and administrative reforms are particularly important not only for the country’s internal development and the modernization of the Albanian state and the market economy, but also for its future membership in the European communities. The level of organization and modernization of the state administration, the codification of legislation and the refinement of the legal order are very important elements for adapting the country to the legal-institutional structures of European integration. Within this framework, during the last four years continuous efforts have been made in support of administrative and legal reform, which are being concretized in new codes and laws that are bringing the Albanian legal system closer to that of developed Western countries. In the field of international law, Albania has actively participated in the activities of the Council of Europe and other international organizations. During this period, important laws have been prepared and adopted relating to public administration, human rights, property, economic relations and the judicial system. In accordance with the general principles of the Council of Europe and the European conventions, our country is aiming to create a modern, democratic and functional legal system. This achievement is an important step toward Albania’s integration into Europe.
