The chairman of the PSD reveals the filthiest side of the Albanian politics he represents

Gjinushi in Shkoder: Milosheviçi receives and escorts the delegations to the house himself, the Albanian himself DIMALI NITA “At the invitation of the leaders of the actors’ troupe of the “Migjeni” theater, the representatives of the PS, PSD and PBDNJ, who as part of their “tour” in Shkoder, took part together with deans of the Faculty of Philology of the “L. Gurakuqi” university and Sali Berisha as well. What was the President looking for and what fault did he have in this?” This is how Skënder Gjinushi, chairman of the PSD, began his routine “speech” on the television named after a beast long known for its wisdom, and then continued with accusations full of slander, fabrications and false insinuations against the political opponents of the left. Although the branch of the PD in Shkoder immediately clarified the truth through a press release stating that “the President of the Republic took part in Thursday’s activities, as part of a working visit to Shkoder, at the invitation of the Prefecture, on the occasion of the screening of the film “The Living Wall”, organized by the branch of the Anti-Communist Association of Politically Persecuted Persons and the Club of Political Persecuted Persons “Tirana”, within the framework of the scientific session “Albanian political thought on the national issue”, organized by the Journalism Department of the “Luigj Gurakuqi” University, and had left other previously scheduled appointments for 30.3.95, all in accordance with the protocol of the Albanian state”, Gjinushi did not stop slandering and accusing on the television named after the long-bearded prophet of the Albanians. “This lackey of Berisha’s, (meaning the dean of the philology faculty in Shkoder, Prof. Dr. Xhevat Lloshi), has supposedly invented and organized an anti-scientific, anti-national, anti-democratic, anti-government and anti-opposition event, with reports on the “national issue”, “Albanian parliamentarianism”, “integration”, etc. This reminds one of Haxhi Qamili, because he supposedly had been known through his grandfather and his books.” Such was the word of the chief social democrat in order to throw mud on the most respected intellectual and scientific figures of Shkoder and of the whole country. But that was not all. When he touched upon the great figure of Ismail Qemali and our Rilindas, the chairman of the PSD reached the peak of slander by declaring: “This is not in the Albanian tradition. Ismail Qemali in times of peace and at international conferences did not take spies, pseudo-patriots or anti-communist organizations with him. or anti-communist organizations...” Clearly, the statements above are of a denigrating type and expose the person and the politics he represents, making it clear that such a policy and philosophy embody hatred, division, denigration, verbal violence and the glorification of anti-Albanian values.

Assessment of the PD and of the implementation of its program; assessment of Albanian democracy

Interview with the Secretary General of PDSH, Mr. Tritan Shehu, given to the deputy editor-in-chief of “Rilindja Demokratike”, Mr. Rakip Pllaka Q: How do you assess the role in the country’s current informational and international life for presenting Albania and portraying the Albanian reality in a true and democratic way, especially with left-wing supporters? Also, to what extent can we say that, through such nationwide activities, in uncovering the true values of democracy? and in raising public opinion in the country and abroad, in the interest of our national cause? Dr. Shehu: Certainly the press in the democratic world plays a very important role in ensuring the transparency of a political system and in the correct and comprehensive reflection of the phenomena that characterize it. Undoubtedly, in Albania this role is great and ongoing. Albania is going through an intensive period of socio-economic change and transformation, and it is clear that it is moving toward further consolidation of pluralist democracy. The activities carried out over these years, such as scientific sessions, folklore festivals, presentations, meetings, performances, in support of presenting as authentically as possible the Albanian identity to the outside world, are unquestionably valuable. Thus, these activities also serve to shed light on certain realities that have been deliberately distorted by certain circles. Moreover, when major issues such as independence, democracy, national identity and European integration are at stake, the role of the press and public debate becomes even more important. Q: Do you think that within the framework of the recent scientific session “Albanian political thought on the national issue” there were attempts to distort certain values or present them in a distorted way? Dr. Shehu: Yes, unfortunately we have observed that certain circles viewed this activity with concern and tried to denigrate it. This is related to the fact that old mentalities still exist in Albania, which cannot reconcile themselves with freedom of thought and with the presentation of the truth. However, the reaction of public opinion and of the democratic forces has been clear in support of this session and the messages it conveyed.
