The prestigious American newspaper “The New York Times” described Eastern Europe’s choice of Euro-Atlantic institutions as “Even if and when?”—in other words, “when and not if?”—yet, fortunately, moving increasingly in that direction, a very topical question stood before the young democrats of Europe, for whom the 16th Congress of their parent organization (DEMYC), mandated in the large European youth organization (YO), held its proceedings on 9-10 July in Amsterdam. The young people of the Democratic Party of Albania were represented at this congress for the second time, thanks to the serious commitment of FRPDSH, that is, a real presence in the democratic activity of the European right-wing forum. This commitment was accompanied by well-organized work, with numerous meetings and contacts with counterpart center-right forces in Europe. In this context, it is particularly noted that in a short time democratic Albania has gone from being the most isolated country on the continent to a country moving rapidly toward full normalization and reform. The DEMYC Congress, which gathered in Amsterdam representatives of youth political forces from all countries of Europe, expressed its full support for the democratic processes in Albania and decided to ratify the membership of FRPDSH as a full member. This decision was greeted with applause and considered an important step toward Albania’s further rapprochement with Europe. In their speech, the Albanian representatives emphasized that this membership is an assessment of the country’s democratic progress, of the economic and political reforms of the PDSH government, as well as a new motivation for Albanian youth to take a more active part in political and social life. The Congress also praised the new climate of freedom and pluralism in Albania, as well as the role of young people in consolidating democratic institutions. At the close of the proceedings, it was stressed that Albania’s integration into European structures is now an irreversible process.
