The best people in the leadership of the PD
From the 4th conference of the PDSH branch in the district of Korçë
The Secretary General of the PDSH, Prof. Dr. Tritan Shehu, took part
In order to steer to a conclusion the electoral campaign in the district of Korçë with 250 members of the PKK and the restructured party, yesterday, with the participation of the Secretary General of the PDSH, Prof. Dr. Tritan Shehu, the 4th conference of this party’s branch in the district of Korçë was held.
At this conference, the problems and achievements of the organization of this branch and its sub-units were highlighted. A.Z. Çami, on behalf of the branch leadership, noted in his report that despite the mistakes and shortcomings made during this period, this branch and its members have made a valuable contribution to the democratization of the country and to the implementation of reforms.
Then the Secretary General of the PDSH, Prof. Dr. Tritan Shehu, praised the work of the branch and emphasized the need to strengthen unity and choose the best people for leadership. He pointed out that the party must always be open to different opinions, but at the same time firm in the face of efforts to weaken it.
In the delegates’ discussions, issues of organization, expansion of the ranks, and increasing the role of local structures were addressed. The delegates asked that people with integrity, moral authority, and the ability to represent the membership with dignity be elected to leadership forums.
In the end, the branch’s leadership bodies were elected and the work platform for the coming period was approved.

PS leaders seek to raise tension
- The loss will be beneath and hidden
- We will not ask that what happens to us be a stage of the proletarian revolution in violence
By EDI PALOKA
The discussions of the 5 social democrats in yesterday’s plenary session, where Prime Minister Aleksandër Meksi presented the medium-term economic program, showed that 5 deputies represent only one faction of the party. At least this is how the reactions of the party’s number two, Sabit Brokaj, to the chairman of the opposition parliamentary group and at the same time chairman of the PSDSh, Skënder Gjinushi, can be understood, as he gave the first signs of a break from the PS.
In his speech on the issue of reform and privatization, the chairman of the PS parliamentary group, Namik Dokle, instead of presenting the left’s alternative, turned his speech into an open declaration of war against the democratic government.
“This state,” he said, “was built by a political minority, which is leading the country toward social polarization.” He went on with accusations that the poor are increasing, that unemployment, insecurity and social tension are worsening.
He suggested that Albania is approaching a new crisis, while recalling the years 1990–91 and warning that “when hopes run out, people take to the streets.”
The chairman of the PS parliamentary group described the situation as a “ticking time bomb,” clearly alluding to new social explosions. Instead of a constructive opposition, the PS is fueling a climate of political confrontation.
Representatives of the democratic majority reacted by emphasizing that the country needs stability, support for reforms and not destabilizing rhetoric.

Now, even stronger, let the DPA radicalize its mission

Now, even stronger, let the DPA radicalize its mission
On the eve of the anniversary of the 28th year in the DPA, we consolidate
On October 1, the sad end of the elections within the DPA. We are saddened by the end of the hope of honest democrats. In the end, after a sad night and a whole storm of voices and insinuations, a new file and a current circumstance, the blocked victory of the best generation of the DPA and of our fragile democracy.
It was achieved by seeing the aim of the anti-democratic, anti-intellectual and autocratic clique that divided us in a fierce denigrating campaign, with an unnecessary and meaningless conflict, to eliminate and strike the most devoted representatives of the party, representatives of thought and word, those who served sacrifice and ideal, the representatives of resistance to dictatorship and transition.
These gentlemen, apparently, have won their first battle; but not the war, because true democrats cannot remain silent in the face of such injustice. The DPA cannot be reduced to a lifeless apparatus, to a blind machine of votes. It must return to its moral and national mission.
Albania needs a modern right wing, an organized, honest and representative force. Only in this way will the hope of thousands of people survive, who saw in the DPA their only alternative to the return of the past.

a member of the governing board of the central bank attached to the Council of Ministers, Sulejman Delvina, stated a week ago in the newspaper “Aman” that German intelligence services are operating freely in Albania. This statement by Delvina alarmed public opinion.
According to Mr. Delvina, three days ago the public banks transferred to one of the banks the portion that the government had assigned in 1993 to the unemployment fund. He said that this was being done illegally.
According to Mr. Delvina, we are dealing with an arbitrary action by the Council of Ministers and the Bank of Albania. In the continuation of the statement, he called for a public explanation and an investigation.
