Bundestag members highly valued and praised the law on genocide
President Berisha met yesterday with German deputies
The law on genocide and the control of politicians' public image is a wise act that will enable Albania to break with the past
President Berisha met yesterday with members of the German Bundestag, Messrs. Frederik Shule, Rainer Krziskievic and Mrs. Angelika Pfaff.
After thanking them for the support and assistance that Germany has given and continues to give Albania, President Berisha praised the very good relations that exist between our two countries and our two parliaments, relations that received a new boost after President Berisha's visit to Germany.
President Berisha also praised Germany's role in solving the problems of our region and, in particular, he valued the understanding and the new dimension that the Kosovo issue is finding in German chancellery circles.
The members of the Bundestag considered the law on genocide and the control of politicians' public image to be very important, describing it as necessary and useful for post-communist society. This law is a wise act, they said, which will enable Albania to break with the past.
President Berisha valued this position of the German parliamentarians, according to whom: "The attitude toward crimes against humanity must be firm. We have lived through a genocide that we must not allow to happen again. The law on genocide does not seek revenge, but should be treated as a symbol of what we experienced and as an indispensable element of our national memory".

A concrete form of cooperation between the two countries
President Berisha received the President of Hungary, Arpad Genc, yesterday afternoon
Your visit to Albania serves to renew the long-standing friendship and long-standing cooperation that our two nations have had throughout our ancient history, President Berisha told the elected President of Hungary and this country.
After presenting an overview of democratic developments, President Berisha stressed that Albania and Hungary, as two countries committed to democratic processes for building the rule of law, a market economy, their integration into Europe, and membership in Euro-Atlantic institutions, have great opportunities and clear prospects for cooperation. He stated that Albania, with its favorable laws on foreign investment, is determined to increase cooperation with Hungary in all sectors of mutual interest, such as tourism, agriculture, telecommunications, infrastructure, the processing industry for agricultural products, minerals, culture, etc.
Military cooperation between our two countries as well as within the framework of the Partnership for Peace, President Berisha continued, serves not only mutual understanding in the Euro-Atlantic structures, but also security in the region.
President Berisha expressed Hungary's support for the construction of the road corridor that will link our two countries, which, like the other corridors in the region, was considered important for Albania.
President Genc stated that the changes taking place in democratic Albania should intensify cooperation in order to overcome the many difficulties of the transition. The broad participation in my government delegation of high-ranking officials and businessmen shows the purpose of our visit, namely to make cooperation concrete in areas of mutual interest such as agriculture, transport, telecommunications, minerals, oil, infrastructure, crafts, the food industry, etc.
President Berisha and President Genc praised the signing of agreements and other memorandums that are in progress as very important for creating the legal framework for cooperation between the two countries.
The two presidents turned to the latest developments in the region. They praised the support and facilities their countries have for the implementation of the Dayton agreement. They stressed the implementation of this agreement as a way to solve the problems of Kosovo, which currently remains the main problem of the region, the problems of Vojvodina and other issues. Regarding the issue of Kosovo, President Berisha stressed Albania's position in favor of dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade in the presence of a third party. President Berisha and Genc expressed support for contributing to the peaceful resolution of these problems.
The official talks, which began with a one-on-one meeting between President Berisha and Genc, were characterized by a spirit of understanding and willingness to cooperate, as well as by similar political views and positions on the situation in the region and the Euro-Atlantic orientation.

-Serbian deputies demand the millions of dollars poured into Albania
A decision by the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the PPSH in 1991 ordered that the newspaper "KJ" be declared, at least in appearance, an independent newspaper, while remaining always under the control of the PPSH (today PS).
After the victory of the PDSH in the elections of 22 March, the Serbian Parliament raises the issue of the millions of dollars poured into Albania to destabilize the country, dollars that Serbian deputies had not used to the desired effect until their allies lost the elections.
Meanwhile, various facts published in the Albanian press about hidden accusations by the PS against Milosevic's party have confirmed the links of PS leaders with Serbian communists.
Within this line, the newspaper "KJ" has also been accused, since many of its articles clearly show a pro-Serbian orientation against the national policy of the Albanian government.
All these facts have been denounced in the Albanian press, but yesterday everything is reaffirmed by a foreign news agency as well. The accusations raised by the press office "Pietro Zanoni" against the PS and the newspaper "KJ" are truly shocking. Albanian Socialists and the newspaper "KJ" are financed by Serbia. Millions of dollars have been poured in by Serbian communists in favor of Socialist deputies and the newspaper in their service. "Koha Jonë" The testimony comes from the mouth of a former employee of the secret police who, for various reasons, has agreed to denounce this act to a foreign news agency.
It is now more than clear that there are other sums, millions of dollars, which Serbian deputies are asking for in their parliament. It is now also clear to Albanians that the policy pursued by the fundamentalist leaders of the PS and "KJ" is against Albania's interests.

Monstrous political crime
The urgent creation of a parliamentary investigative commission is demanded
The report of the Zanoni Press Office, published today in "Albania", reveals the biggest Albanian political scandal. This report proves that Serbia pours hundreds of thousands of dollars into Albania to finance dogmatic leaders of the Albanian opposition, as well as PPSH leaders and the newspapers "Koha Jonë" and "ZP".
The spokesperson of the Democratic Party, denouncing this scandal as a truly monstrous political crime, calls for the urgent creation of a parliamentary investigative commission:
1- To verify all the figures and facts in Mr. Zanoni's report.
2- To prove and make public all the properties and incomes of high-ranking figures of the PPSH, PS and other political forces.
3- To investigate in all detail the accounts of the newspaper "Koha Jonë", whose editors live in Tirana's most luxurious hotels, and those of the newspaper "ZP", since according to Zanoni's report, both newspapers receive tens of thousands of dollars every month for anti-national and collaborationist work.
The spokesperson of the Democratic Party also demands that:
- the prosecutor's office and SHIK immediately take all necessary measures to block this criminal political activity and bring all responsible persons to account

Yesterday afternoon, the Secretary-General of the PDSH, Mr. Tritan Shehu, met with the Vice-President of the PSE, Mr. Akile Oketo, and the head of the PASOK representation, Mr. Panos Ekonomidis. During the meeting, the vice-president of the PDSH, Mr. Tomor Dosti, was also present.
During the conversation, Tritan Shehu expressed his satisfaction with the meeting and with friends belonging to the left-wing political forces of the two countries. He assured them of the contribution they have made to the exchange of cultures. Likewise, Mr. Tritan Shehu gave a brief overview of the latest political developments that have taken place in the country, placing emphasis on economic reforms and especially on reforms in the Albanian justice system. In connection with these, Mr. Shehu further pointed out that the elimination of the consequences of the communist dictatorship is a long process and requires time; nevertheless, the reforms and the adoption of democratic laws with the creation of democratic institutions and Albania's integration into Europe are being successfully carried out.
Then, Mr. Tritan Shehu explained some fundamental aspects of communist genocide, its consequences and damage, as one of the main objectives of the anti-genocide law.
Meanwhile, the gentlemen Akile Oketo and Panos Ikonoridhos, for their part, expressed sympathy for the scale of Albanian democratic developments and the good progress of the reforms.
Furthermore, Mr. Akile Oketo, among other things, said that there has been genocide in Albania and monstrous crimes have been committed there, therefore those who remain suspicious must be brought before criminal responsibility. I conclude, said Mr. Akile Oketo, by including that as such they are in the conditions of dictatorship. After all, as Secretary of the Communist Youth, he sees all the countries where communist parties ruled or still rule, with the exception of Albania.
