A terrifying, bloody act against innocent people

Kosovo was burned again in the dead of night. The bloodshed in the village of Prekaz i Ulët in Drenica made our blood run cold. When the house of a family is set ablaze at midnight, when its people are shot defenseless and mercilessly, when the closest members of the family catch fire and burn inside the house, it must be understood that terror is at its peak. It is a monstrous act by the Serbian police against our Albanian brothers. Such events cannot pass without being strongly condemned; neither the Albanian government nor the Albanian political factor can remain silent. The blood of our innocent people is our blood, it is the blood of the nation. The news coming from Kosovo speaks of a new massacre, of a night of hell in the Jashari family in Prekaz. The dead, the wounded, burned houses, terrified children, women and elderly people in panic. It cannot be allowed that, at the end of the twentieth century, such barbaric scenes are repeated against an entire people. Serbia continues its policy of cleansing, intimidation, and extermination. This is the true face of the regime that rules over Kosovo. The democratic world cannot remain silent. International institutions, Western governments, human rights organizations must respond forcefully to this Albanian tragedy. The Albanian people in Albania and in Kosovo demand justice, demand protection, demand immediate intervention to stop the violence. Silence would be complicity. This terror is not an isolated episode. It is part of a systematic policy against Albanians in Kosovo. Every day there are arrests, beatings, pressure, dismissals from work, persecution, closure of institutions, organized violence. Now there are also flames over families, bullets against people in their homes. This is barbarity. The Albanian people will remember this black night. They will remember the victims, remember the responsible parties, and demand justice to the very end.

The map of division

The reddish map of Albania is becoming a symbol of an old divisive policy. On this map, according to the propaganda of recent days, zones are divided, people are divided, convictions are divided, and the spirit of conflict is raised. It is a dangerous game, a strategy to poison relations among Albanians, to turn them against one another, to stir up tensions that serve only those who want the country weakened. This map is not just a drawing. It is a political message, an attempt to revive regional divisions, to exploit old wounds and to incite new hatreds. At a time when Albania needs unity, calm, and cooperation, the dark propaganda of those who do not accept the democratic path emerges on the scene. Albanians have shown that they know how to reject division. They want a state governed by law, free elections, a stable economy, and a European future. Whoever plays with maps of hatred is acting against the national interest.

Interview with Mr. Bashkim Kopliku, member of the presidency of the PDSH In several countries of Europe, socialist parties also move from the Euro-communist left - the political attack has been on the side of democracy.
