Aleksander Meksi at the head of the Albanian Government
President Berisha appointed the new prime minister
Yesterday at midday, the President of the Republic, Sali Berisha, authorized by decree no. 1941, dated 28.6.1996, Mr. Aleksandër Meksi as prime minister of the new government. The Chairman of the People’s Assembly, Mr. Pjetër Arbnori, after informing the deputies of the President of the Republic’s decree, pointed out that in today’s session the Assembly would proceed to vote on the new government.
Also yesterday, the Meksi government resigned, opening the way for the constitutional procedure for forming the new government. In his speech before the deputies, Prime Minister Meksi declared that the submission of his government’s resignation is a normal parliamentary procedure after elections. He stressed that the new majority would continue the program of reforms and democratic integration.
At the center of the session was also the assessment of the fulfillment of the previous government’s objectives as well as the need to accelerate the pace of economic and institutional reform.

The consolidation of the PS
Now the relationship between socialists and socialists, to explain it concretely and practically. At the end of June, part of the left-wing parliamentarians and PS structures decided to block any attempt to develop normal parliamentary life. According to the author, this behavior shows a lack of political maturity and an inability to accept the rules of the democratic game.
The analysis says that the deliberate dragging out of the parliamentary process, slander, baseless accusations and boycotts serve neither the opposition nor the country. Such attitudes only deepen the crisis of trust and damage Albania’s image.

GRAVEL? ONLY GRAVEL! HAS IT BEEN WORK... OPPOSITION?
Irresponsible insinuations
Reaction from the Press and Information Office attached to the President of the Republic
It is not the beginning that respects opponents, but the ignorant and the uninformed! We quote first of all the sentence with which the opposition newspaper “Koha Jonë”, in yesterday’s article “Analysis of the elections and the country’s stability”, tries to find the “causes” of the political clashes of recent days. Moreover, this is a highly implausible and entirely unserious speculation. The President of the Republic has never gone to hospital, let alone to hold secret talks. On the contrary, the President has carried out his state and political duties normally. If someone seeks to invent tensions and intrigues where there are none, that remains his responsibility. The other allegation, according to which special talks were held between the highest institutions on such matters, is equally untrue. The President of the Republic has consistently respected, and continues to respect, the Constitution and the institutions of the country.
