Van den Broek: The EU is determined to support Albania
President Berisha receives the EU Commissioner for Foreign Policy, Mr. Hans Van den Broek
Europe supports Albania
The Commissioner for Foreign Policy, Hans van den Brok, has declared that in the near future Albania will have a leading role in the democratization process in the region. According to him, important decisions in favor of the EU and its enlargement will emerge from the Madrid summit. Regarding relations with Albania, Van den Brok said that “the possibility of making Albania a full member of the European Parliament will be examined,” considering this “very important” for our country.

In an interview with “Rilindja Demokratike”, Hans van den Broek says that although no Eastern European country has benefited more than Albania, aid must always be provided more efficiently. At the center of the discussion held with Albanian Foreign Minister Alfred Serreqi, the EU commissioner said that “the possibility of making Albania a full member of the European Parliament will also be examined, something he considers extremely important for this country.” As for the association agreement with the EU, H. van den Broek said that “soon we will prepare a feasibility study.” The meeting with President Berisha “was encouraging and useful for Albanian cooperation,” said the European commissioner.
