Once with Marx, once without Marx
Nano's strategy in the rule of the Socialist Party
Clandestine politics
After Lien Fishti, who until now has been at the center of the opposition's accusations and even beyond, for being a supporter of the Marxist line in the PDSH program, in recent days there have been compromising and secret matters. For example, this week in the newspapers "Koha jonë" and "Dita Informacion" a letter and an article by the publisher Shkëlzen Maliqi were published, in which in essence the silent opposition to the philosophers and views of Marx is attacked and highlighted. These writings have drawn the attention of the head of the Socialist Party, Fatos Nano, who then has made a large part of those criticisms his own.
The lack of a public, open and organized theoretical debate among the socialists, and the attempt to turn into a European political movement, have led the socialist leader Fatos Nano to publicly present this silent criticism of the philosophers and views of Marx. He was forced to speak because of media insistence.
In the latest weekly newspaper "Zëri i Popullit", the organ of PSSH, until now the only and unique source where the basic theses and various analyses of Marxist authors could be found, a strongly critical article against the philosopher of the last century, Karl Marx, is published. The article, titled "Fatos Nano and Marx's theses", is published without an author, which leads one to think that in a certain way we are dealing with a political move within the Socialist Party and hesitation to openly declare this position. However, it is very likely that Fatos Nano had it written directly or at least on his order.
So far, by some activists of the Albanian social democracy movement, Marxism and its dogmatism have been criticized and opposed for many years. But never until today has it been brought to the center of attention, with such insistence and with the force of the socialist leader. Thus, in the latest issue of the PSSH newspaper, a long analysis across several pages is published against Marx and his dogmas. Socialist opposition figures and supporters of this doctrine have considered this article to have been dictated by Fatos Nano himself.
At the same time, Fatos Nano is striving to create the figure of a modern politician, far from old ideological schemes. This move of his seems linked to the effort to present the Socialist Party as a moderate force before international opinion and the domestic electorate. But this split position, sometimes with Marx and sometimes without him, according to critics, shows a clandestine and opportunistic policy.
Prompted by this debate, various commentators have pointed out that if the Socialist Party wants to make a real turn, it must openly declare its distancing from Marxist doctrine and not act with hidden messages and anonymous articles. Otherwise, this behavior remains part of a double tactic aimed at keeping different currents within the party together.
The article published without an author in the PSSH organ has further increased the speculation and commentary about Fatos Nano's personal role in this political and propaganda operation.
