Participation of all in democratic processes

The US calls on political forces The Government of the United States states that it is convinced of the importance of holding the parliamentary general elections in such a way as to strengthen the long process of democratization and Albanian political pluralism. In a statement issued yesterday by the press office of the US Embassy in Tirana, it is emphasized that "the United States strongly hopes that all parties involved in the electoral dispute will continue and increase their participation in the democratic process". The statement released by the press office of the US Embassy in Tirana particularly calls on the Albanian authorities to further strengthen the climate of political tolerance and to ensure respect for human rights, which will help create the most appropriate climate possible for the institutionalization of the reforms and democratic processes that have begun. The statement notes that the US government has expressed regret for the climate created on polling day and remains firmly committed to supporting democratic institutions in Albania.

Sabit Brokaj: How I was recruited by Fatos Nano

My experience with the press of the past, but also with today's press, is conditioned by an old complex of opinion and political prejudice. The so-called left-wing media, from this perspective, remains a slogan. Naturally, the various information outlets, which officially or legally are called such, have their public mission and express the freedom of pluralism. But because of the role they play in society, they are also bearers of the sensitivities and interests of political forces. Thus, the press has been and remains both a tribune for the citizen and an instrument of political forces. My experience with this press is mainly one of bias and prejudice. In fact, I have not had the occasion to be the one who incites conflict with journalists or publishers. I have been the target of attacks, distortions, irony, and insults. I have been called a traitor, renegade, sold out, wavering, etc. I have not seen it as appropriate to respond in kind. I have thought that part of this spirit comes from political tension, but also from our deficient culture of debate. I have happened to be close to Fatos Nano for a not short period. I do not hide the fact that he has been, for me, a central figure in the Socialist Party, a man with energy, intuition, and the ability to hold an important political role. But political closeness does not mean moral blindness. Precisely because I have known him at close range, I have the duty to say that around him a distorted climate of personality worship has been built, which has severely damaged the party. The SP today is not simply an opposition political force. It is an organism worn down by internal conflicts, by groups, clans, and mistrust. Its main disease is division. And this division is not accidental. It has been nurtured for years by the lack of internal democracy, by the spirit of purges, and by the need to maintain personal control over the structures at any cost. When a party does not allow dissenting views, it loses the ability to renew itself. When a chairman fears free debate, he turns the party into a clientelist apparatus. When militants are taught to applaud and not to think, then we have entered a deep political and moral crisis. I have not abandoned my left-wing convictions. But I have refused to be part of a mechanism that has confused opposition with disorder, alternative with insult, and reform with daily intrigue. I cannot accept a political culture fed by the denigration of the opponent and by the use of people until they become unnecessary. I have been told that I am speaking now because I am dissatisfied, because I have been left aside. It may be easy for some to explain it that way. But the truth is that my silence until now has been an effort not to add fuel to the conflict. Today I think that silence would be complicity. The Socialist Party needs deep reform, not makeup. It needs internal institutions that function, a statute that is respected, a rotation of ideas, and an elite that does not consider the party private property. If this does not happen, the SP will continue to lose not only elections, but also the meaning of its existence as a representative force. In this sense, the question is no longer whether Nano should stay or temporarily leave. The question is whether the SP will dare to heal the infection of division that is consuming it from within.

Nano: SP, a crisis of leadership

It passed through the doors of the colleges ser[?] mini, block[?], with more [??] orders from [??] the clash that has taken on the breath of death and to seek "salvation" [??] in a climate of degradation. It further states that the main responsible parties belong to the party leaders and the organizational apparatus. According to the assessment made, wrong decisions, lack of consultation, and the personalization of party life have led to a paralysis of opposition action. Fatos [??] has insisted.

Boycott - the only consensus in the SP

The clan of [?] involved and Sabit Brokaj (?) argues that the socialists of [?] are not playing the role of a responsible opposition and have entered a path that harms the Albanian left itself. According to him, the reaction of the party structures has been more oriented toward blockage than toward an alternative. He stresses that instead of preparing for the electoral battle and the programmatic confrontation, part of the leaders have chosen boycott as the only instrument. This behavior, according to him, narrows the space for debate and damages democratic culture. In his analysis of the state of the party, he notes that conflict has become a method of work and that local organizations are often left without clear political guidance.

Ulqini: Brokaj has spied on me.... Mama from a z[?]lligës [??] open, but among [??] and [??]. There are strong accusations of deliberate actions that have undermined relations between the key figures of the party. The text also mentions earlier clashes and public denunciations. In the end, it is implied that the conflict in the SP is not merely an organizational issue, but also a moral and personal one, where reciprocal accusations have replaced political debate.
