Today, only the blue vote

Today the electorate of Albania will choose the alternative and the candidate most suitable for the local government of the next four years. Thus, the vote on 20 October is a marked event in the history of Albanian democracy. For the period and development of democracy, but also for the course of solutions in our country in the future. On 26 May, with the free and uninfluenced vote, the people for our Western belonging, for victory and achieved justice, for a better future and higher quality in the lives of all Albanians, for the attainment of individual freedom. Mali i të remains a historic day, not only because the election was won by the free vote of the citizens and not by violence, but because in these elections the Western alternative of Albania and the Albanians won, the alternative of civilization and prosperity. We know how long and arduous the road of the Albanians from communist isolation to freedom has been, how difficult the building of democratic institutions has been, and how arduous the road to Europe has been. Today, with our vote for the candidate and the alternative that most serves the interests of our city, we will help, accelerate, or delay the country's integration into Europe. Today we will be for the voting of a wise governance controlled by the citizens, or for the creation of a corridor controlled by clans and gangs. Today we will integrate more firmly alongside our Western side, to more quickly achieve the country's long-awaited solution in Europe. Today we will help realize democracy, for a better life in the world, those who consider boycott to be good for Albanian democracy. At the polling stations there are all the opportunities to realize this historic moment. The spread of domestic and foreign observers, the electoral administration and the preparation of the infrastructure make this 20 October remain a marked event in the history of Albanian democracy.

Support and facilities to closely follow the elections

President Berisha received the foreign observers Yesterday, the President of the Republic, Sali Berisha, received the delegation of representatives of national and international institutions, accredited to follow today's electoral process. At the head of this delegation were Mr. Donald Anderson, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament, simultaneously chairman of the European Parliament observers' delegation, as well as Mr. Robert Gelbard, the envoy of the US president for the former Yugoslavia. In the meeting, President Berisha emphasized the importance of today's local elections, considering them one of the most important events in the history of Albanian democracy. He said that the Albanian institutions have taken all measures for a free and fair electoral process. President Berisha valued the presence of foreign observers as important support for the smooth conduct of the elections and expressed the full readiness of the Albanian authorities to create for them all the necessary conditions to closely follow the electoral process.
