Privatization: The government favors buyers

Yesterday at the meeting of the Council of Ministers 30 million lek for apartment purchases for former political persecuted persons For some socialists!? ... under one word from another scandal. But what prompted the socialists to present this comedy, absurd by its nature, as a victory, can only be explained by the temporary suspension of the external before their failure, of a demoralized morality, under the pressure of the PS's "successes" to disappoint the opposition and public opinion. Last night or early in the morning, the public relations office informed that at the meeting of the Council of Ministers, on the proposal of the minister of privatization, it would be decided to privatize some state-owned objects. Decided urgently and without prior preparatory media process, the meeting gave rise to many interpretations. The postponement of the afternoon meeting of the Council of Ministers and the unusual statements of the government spokesman regarding a rumored decision on privatization put public opinion in suspense. By presenting the decision as a political and economic achievement, the government sought to gain the maximum propaganda advantage. But, as later turned out, the real content of the decision remained far from the pomposity of its presentation. Later it was announced that privatization concerned some specific objects and certain procedures, but without giving all the details. In this context, various buyer interests and possible favoritism were mentioned. According to preliminary announcements, the decisions also concerned housing for former political persecuted persons, for whom a fund of 30 million lek was allocated for apartment purchases. The accompanying photograph shows the meeting hall of the Council of Ministers.

Responsibility for expenses

Two trade unionists write a letter to Fatos Nano, reminding him ironically of the PS's unfulfilled promises to solve back wages, the unaffordable cost of living, and the demagoguery of the socialists. The letter has also been addressed to public opinion. The media and government circles yesterday dealt with publicizing a yesterday's episode of Nano's in the government meeting. According to this interpretation, they were asking for an account of certain expenses and payments, which was used to create the idea of governmental seriousness. In reality, according to the authors of the letter, the fundamental problem remains poverty and the failure to keep promises made to workers. page 4
