May peace and love reign among us SHKODËR: President Berisha greeted the Catholic faithful on the occasion of Christmas The Albanian Church, testimony to faith in God and nation President Berisha, during his visit to Shkodër, took part in the ceremonies held in the cathedral church on the occasion of Christmas. In his greeting he highlighted the importance of this holiday for Catholic believers and for all Albanian society, stressing that peace, love, and understanding must reign among people. In this context, the President congratulated the Catholic clergy and the faithful for their role in preserving moral and national values. During his stay in Shkodër, he also held meetings with personalities from the city and with many citizens who had come out to greet him. To the small parties participating in the elections The President of the Republic, Sali Berisha, decreed yesterday the consensual law of the People's Assembly that extended the deadline for payment of the financial obligations of the political parties that took part in the elections of 26 May 1996. Under this law, with the postponement of payment until 1 June 1997, the work for these parties is significantly eased. Meanwhile, on the same day, the chairman of the Democratic Party, Dr. Sali Berisha, met with representatives of the political forces participating in the elections, stating that the solution to this issue was a necessary step to preserve the pluralist standards of political life in the country. According to the press notices, during the meeting they discussed the progress of political processes and the need to strengthen institutional dialogue.
