The diplomacy of the US and WTO countries [?] expanded yesterday the list of invitees and no one is missing. Around 75 representatives of countries and international organizations had come from the diplomatic corps accredited in Tirana. Also invited were party leaders, former president Rexhep Meidani? [?], former prime minister Aleksandër Meksi, former deputy prime minister and minister of Foreign Affairs, Alfred Serreqi, former speaker of Parliament, Pjetër Arbnori, leaders of central and local government, representatives of the media, religious leaders and business figures. Present were also representatives of international organizations, members of the government and local officials. The ceremony organized on this occasion took place at the Palace of Brigades, where President Berisha received and greeted the guests. In this atmosphere President Berisha also delivered the ceremonial speech, in which he pointed out that 1997 would be an important year for deepening democratic reforms and the market economy. He also stressed the importance of Albania’s integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions. Page 3
