Myzeqe under the government’s special care

A meeting between President Berisha and residents of the city of Lushnjë In his speech before around 700 people in the cinema hall, President Berisha presented a series of measures to help overcome the crisis and promote the further development of the Lushnjë district. Berisha promised that the first measure he would put before the government would be the increase of taxes for farmers in the water zone declared in a zagare for 2 years, the declaration of a rapid and complete privatization of land, the implementation of reform in agricultural enterprises with the aim of increasing the cultivated area, the privatization of all agricultural tools and machinery, the removal of bureaucratic obstacles that limit the circulation of agricultural products, the reduction of the price of diesel fuel and energy for agriculture, supply with technical and material resources, as well as the resolution of the issue of private property in the countryside. Speaking about the legalization process for buildings, President Berisha emphasized that a humane solution must be found and that no one will be left without shelter. No Albanian can be hungry or unemployed, President Berisha said, stressing that the government’s objective is to turn the economy into a free-market economy. He stressed that land privatization, especially in the lowland areas, will be at the center of the government’s attention in order to guarantee production and improve rural welfare. President Berisha mentioned that the government will allocate 5,000 tons of wheat for the district, 4 million dollars for investments, and 15 million dollars for the development of infrastructure and irrigation. We are facing serious difficulties, but the country is recovering, he said. In the packed hall, the President was greeted with applause and shouts of support. He stressed that the country needs peace, order, work, and faith in the future. For his part, the President of the Republic, answering several questions, said that in the future international aid will be used more effectively and will favor the areas with the greatest problems. At the end of his speech, he called on citizens to preserve calm, support democratic reforms, and contribute to building the rule of law.

Government commission for the problems of Vlorë

The President of the Republic requested: President of the Republic Sali Berisha yesterday chaired the government meeting at the Ministry of Defense, where the situation that had recently arisen in Vlorë after the withdrawal of the security forces and the intervention of the army was discussed. At this meeting it was decided to create a government commission chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tritan Shehu and made up of the ministers of Justice, Public Order, Defense, and the head of SHIK. This commission will take measures to create an atmosphere of normality and calm in the city of Vlorë, to create the conditions for public order and peace to be restored, for the law and human rights and freedoms to be enforced, and for dialogue with citizens to be established. This commission will undertake the most energetic measures to find the perpetrators, instigators and organizers of the acts of violence and bring them to justice.
