Emergency solutions to overcome the difficulties of the savings and loans crisis

President Berisha speaks with the citizens of Elbasan The left-wing opposition, without even offering an apology, at least to its own voters and perhaps also to public opinion for its silence, for its alliance with the foundation, for building the campaign on the basis of the pyramid scheme, preferred to manipulate people's despair, to provide no alternative at all for solving these problems, and its greatest preoccupation is eternal. Communism in Albania will not return anymore President Sali Berisha, accompanied by Mr. Edouard Balladur, the leader of the French center-right opposition and chairman of the RPR parliamentary group in the National Assembly of France, as well as Mr. Fatos Nano, chairman of the Socialist Party of Albania, and Mr. Servet Pëllumbi, chairman of the parliamentary group of that party, took part in the rally organized yesterday in the center of the city of Elbasan. President Berisha delivered a speech at this rally, in which he stressed among other things: “Today I declare that we will undertake every sacrifice, we will do everything in our power and within our abilities to face the situation that has arisen, to help every family that has suffered losses, every pensioner, every farmer, every businessman, every student, every soldier, every doctor, every teacher, every disabled person, every orphan and every person in need. First of all, by putting into effect an emergency package with reduced interest rates, making it possible, as quickly as possible, for every citizen to receive assistance, to ease his situation. Secondly, by taking measures to expand economic activity, to create jobs, to increase exports, to encourage production, to revive the economy. Thirdly, by reforming the banking system, to make it stronger, more modern, more reliable and more capable of serving the market economy”. The President emphasized that the left-wing opposition, instead of engaging in self-criticism for its silence about this phenomenon, for its alliance with the foundations, for encouraging investments in pyramid schemes, is trying to manipulate people's despair and exploit the difficult situation for political purposes. “They gave no alternative, no proposal, no solution. Their greatest concern is the return of communism. But I tell you that communism in Albania will not return anymore,” he said. In his speech, President Berisha also spoke about the local elections process and the need for stability, order and support for democratic institutions. He called on citizens to remain calm and not fall victim to provocations. At the end of the meeting, the President met with many citizens, listened to their concerns and promised that the government would act decisively to get through this difficult period.
