The country's needs for bread are guaranteed for many months
Announcement from the General Directorate of State Reserves
The General Directorate of State Reserves clarified matters against speculation, but also against the panic created in public opinion by the circulation of the news that there will be shortages of food products on the market. Its staff says that it has sufficient reserves to meet these needs every day and until the market is supplied with upcoming imports. From what was stated, there are state reserves of bread for a period of 4 months, while for sugar and cooking oil for 6-7 months. This includes the amount of reserve needed for an additional 30 days in cases of a state of emergency. The State Reserves Directorate says that its warehouse also has sufficient reserves for items such as rice, pasta, beans and canned goods. For these items, the reserves in storage ensure the market's needs for a period of 2 to 4 months. To keep the market situation under control, the Reserves Directorate has been and remains ready to supply the market in considerable quantities with these items, through the trade network. It has also taken measures to cope with any situation, being ready to meet market needs on time with items such as flour, sugar, oil and other items of vital importance. According to the Reserves Directorate, there is a sufficient amount of grain in the country and there is no cause for panic.
Hand over the rebels who are leading the PS
President Berisha received representatives of the Socialist Party, Mejdani, Dokle, Majko
Once again with your hands in your hair? Because you decided to defeat the constitutional order and Albanian democracy through an armed rebellion! You brought in organized terrorists, you created your own glorious revolt, and through its organization you became an incitement to stir up civil war and overthrow the government to seize power
Yesterday, the President of the Republic, Sali Berisha, received in a meeting the Secretary General of the Socialist Party, Mr. Mejdani, and members of the leadership of this party, Messrs. Namik Dokle and Pandeli Majko. Addressing them, the President of the Republic emphasized that the Socialist Party has pushed the country toward catastrophe. The President said that Mr. Mejdani took it upon himself to always bring in the most prominent extremists and those with the most destabilizing influence within his party. President Berisha said that for months the government has called on the chairman of the PS, Mr. Nano, and its leaders to condemn the rebellion, but instead this political force has encouraged it in a primitive and enraged frenzy. For the fate of the Albanian state, at least since May 1996, you have made as a condition regarding the country's leadership the violent overthrow, by force and arms, of the legitimate institutions, the government and parliament. In March of this year, under the pretext of solving the issue of the bankruptcy of the pyramid firms, you raised the most dangerous uprising, you established psychological terror in entire cities, encouraging people to burn their cities, seize weapons from the army and police, and attack SHIK. The President told them that you decided to defeat the constitutional order and Albanian democracy through an armed rebellion. You brought in organized terrorists, you created your own glorious rebels, and through its organization you became an incitement to stir up civil war and overthrow the government to seize power. You gave the name to the communist revolution of 1943-1944, but today you exclude every name except terrorism. The government and the state have adopted extraordinary measures to stop destabilization and restore constitutional order. The President stated that the primary responsibility for the bloodshed and destruction lies with those who incite the crowds and direct the rebellion from political headquarters.

There is no censorship in Albania against the foreign press
The Albanian ambassador in London tells the media
LONDON, 4 March /ATSH/ - The Albanian ambassador in London, Petrit Bushati, has rejected the article in the British daily "The Times", according to which the Albanian government would review foreign correspondents in Albania.
Bushati stated in an interview with the British newspaper "The Guardian" that the Albanian government has not taken any restrictive measures against foreign media or their correspondents. According to him, statements attributed to the Albanian government have been misinterpreted or taken out of context. The ambassador said that Albania remains open to the international media and that foreign reporting is welcome, as long as it respects the law and professional ethics.
