Decisions of the PDSH Presidency The Socialist Party must condemn the 28 March agreement in Vlora
The Ministry of Defence states that what was proposed by PP and by the Greek war is false. Yesterday, on 1 April 1997, the PDSH Presidency, after discussing the developments and the grave situation in the country, decided: 1. To declare null and void the 28 March agreement and the government emerging from this agreement for the following reasons: 2. Mr. Rexhep Meidani did not represent the voice of PP and its allies, but that of the public salvation committees and of the Greek war. 3. This agreement is an act of national treason because it divides Albania according to Greek-Serbian spheres of influence. 4. This agreement opens the way to civil war and bloodshed in Albania. 5. This agreement seriously violates the constitution and the free will of Albanians. 6. The PDSH Presidency considers the government emerging from this agreement illegitimate and anti-national. 7. The PDSH calls on all its structures and citizens to defend freedom, pluralism and human rights by all democratic means. 8. Starting next Monday, the PDSH will begin its activity in all cities of Albania and will open its offices. 9. The PDSH Presidency expresses regret over the situation created and warns of the risk of civil war. 10. The PDSH Presidency.
Parliament denounces the agreement between the PS and its armed wing
Debate in the People’s Assembly
Yesterday in the People’s Assembly, MPs discussed with deep concern the hope that such a political bargaining agreement between the left and armed structures outside the state is leading the country into a new confrontation. The chair of the PDSH parliamentary group, Sabri Godo, declared that the PP has become an ally of the public salvation committees and of the gangs controlling the South. Other MPs described this agreement as an irresponsible political act that violates the constitution and seriously harms national interests. They called on parliament to defend the constitutional order and the territorial integrity of the country. The debate continued in harsh tones and with mutual accusations between the parties.

There is no Albanian in the world who has not been devastated by this Albanian tragedy
Page 4 There is no Albanian in the world who has not been devastated by this Albanian tragedy Interview with writer Ismail Kadare given to the BBC Q. - Mr. Kadare, did you declare that the public salvation government would declare war on Yugoslavia? I.K. - No! Your question is wrongly put. First of all, it is not a public salvation government but a catastrophe government. The situation is dramatic. Albania is facing a national catastrophe, a possible partition, and a civil war. For this reason people are extremely worried. Q. - Mr. Kadare, is there hope of getting out of this situation? I.K. - Hope exists only if legitimate institutions are respected, political adventures are avoided, and the Albanian nation preserves its unity. Any compromise with forces of violence will deepen the tragedy. Q. - How do you see the role of the Western world? I.K. - The Western world should help Albania get out of this situation, but without infringing on its sovereignty and without legitimizing the armed committees. Albanians must find the strength to defend themselves and preserve national dignity. Q. - Thank you. I.K. - Thank you.
Mitat Frashëri’s appeal for the days Albania is going through
A message after 72 years
No phenomenon, from the smallest to the most crushing and irreparable ones that wound with such pain the wounded conscience of the nation, can be seen without pain and without revolt. What has happened and is continuing in our Albania today, for some Albanians, now so long awaited and since it has become part of our fate, is for the purpose of raising our national responsibilities. Speak out at once. THERE WILL ONCE BE A LOUD POPULAR VOICE, POLITICS LET THE WHOLE...? [?] QUNSHTRA? 6 APRIL 1933
