The arrival of the Socialists in parliament opens the right path

The Chairman of the PD, Prof. Dr. Tritan Shehu, speaks to "RD" "I do not see as harmful to democracy and to the formal law the institutionalization of new anarchic committees or cooperatives or the government. Stability first seen by the government of Salihatit[?] in order." "The opening and entry of the Socialists into parliament is a positive direction in the tense situation in which our country finds itself. Their action is far from the position of boycott or abandonment of the chamber that characterized the opposition of yesterday for a long period. I think that their regular participation in parliamentary life will better serve the political climate, because through debate and institutional procedures more reasonable solutions can be found than through the escalation of conflict in the streets." This is what the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Prof. Dr. Tritan Shehu, said yesterday in a press statement, also emphasizing that the government remains determined to guarantee the constitutional order and civic rights. According to him, the opposition's entry into parliament should not be seen as a weakness of the majority, but as an opportunity to restore institutional normality. Shehu underlined that recent developments have produced a heavy climate and that this requires responsibility from all political forces. He added that it is necessary to avoid hate speech, calls for violence and forms of informal organization that challenge the law and the authority of the state. He further said that efforts to legalize parallel structures or so-called salvation committees are incompatible with a democratic state and a functioning constitutional order. According to him, the only solution is to restore trust in institutions, respect the law and participate in the political process through parliamentary channels. Mr. Anonim[?] also expressed the importance of a broad process of communication with citizens and with international actors, in order to avoid misunderstandings and preserve Albania's image abroad. He called on all sides to show maturity, while stressing that the crisis cannot be solved with divisive rhetoric. In conclusion, his statement underlined that the return of the Socialists to parliament could serve as a first step toward reducing tensions and gradually restoring normal political life in the country.

The PD is capable of facing all challenges

Yesterday, amid being targeted again by the McCarthyite propaganda of the communist and social-communist press, the Foreign Minister and at the same time Deputy Chairman of the PD, Tritan Shehu, gave a press conference and an interview to the newspaper "Koha Jonë", where he denounced the dishonest and anti-national reaction of the Albanian left and of certain international circles. According to him, the waves of spreading hatred and inciting revenge on which the entire campaign of the Socialist Party led by Fatos Nano and his allies, who have returned to the scene, is built, place our country in great danger. Considering it an attempt to carry out a known destabilizing scenario, Shehu said that this kind of propaganda is preparing the ground for violence and civil confrontation. He accused the communist media and the political services linked to it of manipulating the public climate and creating a psychology of fear. According to his statements, the government and the PD will not retreat in the face of attacks, but will continue to defend the institutions and the constitutional order. He further stressed that Albania needs calm, legality and a serious commitment from all political forces in the interest of the national interest. Referring to recent developments, he said that any attempt to overthrow the institutions by force would bring serious consequences for the country and would damage democratic processes. At the end of the statement, Shehu repeated that the PD remains determined to face the challenges and guarantee the functioning of the rule of law.
