The perpetrators of the explosions are those who refuse to accept defeat at the ballot box in the 29 June elections and who, instead of signing the social pact, choose political terror by killing innocent people

Albanian left-wing extremists radicalized their efforts to carry the armed revolution through to the end, launching a nationwide terrorist campaign of explosive attacks that is claiming the lives of dozens of innocent Albanians. Around 30 people were injured in Tirana by bomb blasts that badly shook the capital’s peace, while in Elbasan terrorists planted TNT and destroyed the headquarters of the Democratic Party. But the worst thing is that people no longer have even the minimum assurance for their lives—not while having coffee, not while taking their children to school, not even when sleeping peacefully in their homes. The justice authorities may need a very long time, or may fail, through their incompetence, to uncover even the direct assailants who are staining the streets of Albania with the blood of innocent people and terrorizing citizens during election month. But the real hand massacring Albanians must be sought among those who have still not declared their participation in the elections, even as they have incited and organized all the great tragedies that have shaken the country in these difficult days for Albania. The true perpetrators of the terrorist crimes are those who have signed declarations and agreements with the armed men who burned and destroyed the cities of the south, and who are holding hostage the peace and calm of thousands of innocent citizens who live and work in Albania. The perpetrators have tried to obstruct a free and peaceful electoral process—the only way to save the country from crisis. This bombing campaign in Tirana and Elbasan, and above all the panic accompanying these peak days of the election campaign, is the work of left-wing extremists, who have found a last resort to avoid their certain defeat if the elections were free. The shifting of the hotspots from the southern cities, which have been occupied by the swollen armed wing, is the work of the Socialists and other leftists who, at their rallies, demand that all cities become like Vlora, where the committee of armed gangs rules. Unable to extend their people’s violent occupation to these areas, people emerging from the State Security’s cesspools have decided to strike mercilessly at innocent lives, to force ordinary people not to trust the free vote of 29 June, but to fear the violence of the red terrorists. The true perpetrators of the massacres are those who ordered that, in areas occupied by their committees, the right-wing press be banned and the pro-socialist press be escorted, and/or that the candidates for deputy be accompanied by Albania’s best-known terrorist journalist, Frok Çupi. Those predisposed to terror are the ones who burned vehicles distributing the right-wing press and beat to death the drivers and journalists who agreed to sell even non-communist newspapers to feed their children. The bombs in Tirana and the bloodshed were planted by the people who heeded their gangs’ calls not to shoot into the air, but to save their bullets for the place where Sali Berisha or 16 others are dragged demonstrators. The bombs in Tirana were planted by the comrades of Albert Shyti, Gjelë Malaj and Zani, who blew up the goods and the office and headquarters of the Democratic Party in Elbasan, after having riddled it with bullets several times before. The PD condemns the criminal acts and calls on its members, supporters, and electorate to remain calm in the face of the barbaric acts of left-wing extremists, because on June 29 Albanians will give all terrorists the answer they deserve through their free vote. Red terror moves to Elbasan Late the night before last, a considerable amount of explosives destroyed the front section of the PD building in Elbasan. The explosion occurred at the same time as the acts carried out by left-wing terrorists in the capital and was the work of left-wing extremists in Elbasan. The glass entrance door has now been sprayed with bullets for the fourth time, completely destroying it and shattering all the building’s windows. According to Ilir Durmani, secretary of the PD branch, the damage caused by the explosion amounts to a considerable sum of money. “But,” he stresses, “I will not dwell on the damage, because I want to emphasize that explosives are repeatedly being thrown inside the PD building by people with specific aims: to spread fear and terror among PD employees and its members and activists.” The building’s destruction with explosives follows the vandalizing of several dozen items and the theft of some equipment and documents from its offices. Terror and acts of banditry against PD members and supporters, as well as its local headquarters, have been ongoing in Elbasan since the armed communist rebellion began. The PD headquarters has also repeatedly been targeted by left-wing extremists and people connected to them, who have ransacked, robbed, and vandalized it. The terrorists’ attempt to intimidate the PD electorate and terrorize its members and supporters reached its peak with the destruction of the local headquarters using explosives. The Elbasan incident is not the only one in a series of terrorist acts against PD members and supporters in many districts of the country, especially in southern cities. The burning of local headquarters, the suppression of the press in committee-controlled districts, the burning of newspapers in Berat and Gjirokastër, along with a series of other medieval acts of intimidation against PD members, supporters, activists, and employees in many parts of the country, clearly show that left-wing extremists and those who incited and led the communist rebellion continue to target the Democratic Party and seek to intimidate its electorate. In condemning these acts, fit only for criminals, the PD has repeatedly called on its members, supporters, and electorate to remain calm in the face of the barbaric acts of left-wing extremists, because on June 29 Albanians will give all those responsible for the terror the answer they deserve through their free vote.
