Tirana seals PD victory
BERISHA: “Tirana, the media and the mind of the nation will respond to the rebellion and the committees; it will display its values and determination to lead Albania on the road of democracy toward Europe”
President Berisha calls on Albanians to vote against the rebellion
Tirana will lead Albania on 29 June
The martyrs greet you, you who bring joy to the people. Tirana and all of Albania will say no to the socialists’ slaughterhouse of calamity. Seventy thousand people gathered in the square in front of the Palace of Congresses to express, in one voice, their faith in victory, progress, and Albania’s new future.
The development and smooth running of the electoral campaign, writes the newspaper Berliner Zeitung, are giving new momentum to democracy in Albania. 29 June, the day of the general vote, will be set apart by the civilized world as the fall of the rebellion and the return of order in Albania.
On 29 June, democracy, from parliament to government, will stop communism with the fire of terror, division, the past and the primitive hatreds planted by the Serbian epic tradition.
Mr. Berisha said that 29 June will divide the epochs; once and for all, democracy from communist barbarity, socialism and its primitive revolutions.
He further said that in the distant past, for 50 years, Albanian citizens were accustomed to internment, executions without trial, political imprisonment and hunger. According to him, this will never happen again.
The grand rally in Tirana was considered proof of the strength of the democratic electorate. In his speech, President Berisha said that this is the existential battle of a nation, and therefore the responsibility is great.
He called on Albanians to vote massively, to defend the free vote and to bring about a deserved victory for the Democratic Party.
