PS’s super-scam goes up in flames

The Socialist Party statement seeks to free Nano from the burden of crime. Where will he find the money, when he has still not repaid the 7 million dollars stolen from Italian aid to Albania? Nano deceives and heavily stains Vlorë. The leader of the Socialist Party “forgets” the money crime in Gjirokastër Another Socialist bombshell about 29 June On page 23 shoaring? Socialist Party leader Nano last night, after a press conference in Tirana, came out with a new statement about the elections of 29 June. In ordinary language, to explain the meaning of Mr. Nano’s statement yesterday, one could say that he has made himself known. According to him, the decision to hold elections in Albania with only a majoritarian vote would be more democratic, more acceptable and more representative than the current combination of a majoritarian and proportional system. Nano, who publicly declared that his right-wing allies are presenting the two-round majoritarian system, yesterday found a strange formulation, according to which right-wing forces win under the majoritarian system only because they manage to split the votes of the left-wing electorate! This means that for Nano the vote of a left-wing citizen is worth less than that of another. Since, according to him, the left splits its own votes, it has no right to govern, whereas the right does. According to this logic, Albanian citizens are supposed to listen to Mr. Nano about how they should think and how they should vote, so that he feels at ease with the inevitable defeat. In all this political declaration Nano tries to shift attention away from the responsibilities of the Socialist Party and his personal responsibility in the Albanian crisis. He tries to present himself as a savior, while the public has not forgotten the serious accusations about the 7 million dollars of Italian aid to Albania, mentioned in Gjirokastër. He “forgets” the money crime in Gjirokastër and seeks to appear as the man who will bring order. But the question remains: Where will he find the money, he who has still not repaid the 7 million dollars stolen from Italian aid to Albania? This election campaign is exposing, like never before, the “state of the Socialists,” but especially the bleak poverty and the greatest madness of the Albanian chief socialist. Faced with the fact that their electorate, but especially the other voters dissatisfied with the catastrophic failure of the Democratic Party government, absolutely do not want Nano back in power, the left’s electoral strategists have begun to show signs of panic. While half the campaign period is expiring, the leader of the Socialist Party has still not managed to do anything serious except create a scenario of fear and old political hatred. Fino, who came to head the government as a compromise figure after the unrest, is increasingly acting as a guarantor of narrow party interests. This is seriously damaging any perception of the impartiality of the process that must take the country to elections. If a transitional government does not respect the minimum rules of equality and security, the elections themselves are called into question. The Çerik case, where gangs and militant gatherings are mentioned, increases this doubt. The same goes for the way the Socialists try to control the vote and organize political consumption based on people’s poverty.

PDSH chairman Tiran Shehu said that the Socialist Party candidate, Nusret Vebi, is an old fanatic of this party and that with his slogans he cannot win more than 20 percent of the vote. According to Shehu, even if all the left-wingers in the area were gathered together, the citizens of Kolonja would vote for the Democratic Party candidate. “We have suffered from injustice and we do not need political adventurers,” he added. He further said that the Democratic Party government has brought order, property and hope to this region.
