Our necessary victory
The majority of Albanians will vote today for the Democratic Party, so that the bloodied and scorched model of Vlora and the other cities victimized by PS gangs does not become tomorrow’s model for a normal Albania. If the PD’s victory was once necessary, today it is indispensable, the only path that will lead Albanians toward living together and peace with one another. Albanians will vote today for the PD to extinguish the fires of hatred and destruction that were lit throughout Albania by the descendants of those who oppressed this country for 50 years. Today they will express their determination to stop political crime and terror, the only tools the communists have chosen to turn Albania’s clock back. Albanians will vote today against those who fired anti-tank weapons, machine-gun bursts, bombs and axes at Democrats, ordinary citizens, police officers and guardsmen, without sparing even passersby, who suffered tragic deaths simply because they happened to be near the criminal gangs. Our victory is indispensable to rebuild the structure of the Albanian state, severely damaged by the barbaric attacks of left-wing extremist gangs, who set institutions on fire to carry their armed revolution through to the end. We will win today to prevent Albania’s integrity from being violated, to prevent divisions from taking root—for that would mean the defeat of communism and this country’s eternal enmity. Our victory is indispensable because facing us are those who themselves created the fraudulent pyramid schemes, seized Albanians’ money, and then took up the weapons of fire and set Albania ablaze. We will win because we will swiftly restore order, shaken by the violence of Kalashnikovs during protests over the loss of money, by those who stole Gjallica’s 500,000 dollars, who were political partners and close associates of all the usurers, while today they are trying to hide their heads like ostriches by blocking transparency. Our victory is certain because Albanians have had time to become reacquainted with their gangs, which have killed and massacred in Vlora, Gjirokastër, Saranda, Elbasan, Lushnjë and elsewhere. We will win because facing us are those who call our white doves black, and others who curse the sun of their own region simply because there are no gangs and terrorists there like Zani, Alfons Shyti and Gjolekë Malaj. Albanians will vote for the PD because facing us is the very chief of the committees and armed gangs, Fatos Nano, who has decided to enter the Albanian parliament by using weapons to obstruct his political opponents’ campaign. Facing us is Gramoz Ruçi, who ordered the secretary of the PD, Leonard Dërmi, to be massacred, and the kidnapping of the PBDNJ candidate. Our victory is certain because facing us are those who, after burning and destroying this country, mocked Albanians in the most vile and inhuman way, deceiving them with the “blank check.” We will defeat those who, after covering the roads and squares of our cities in blood, promise the century of our cities to Albanians, the right to be governed as Albanians, a “normal Albania” and democracy—in reality, their own terrorist democracy. In reality, the gangs have cast them into bondage while terrorizing Albanians. Our victory will be cast into their hands; it will be their salvation. They are determined to vote for the PD, to vote for their united and common leaders; and it will be necessary, indeed indispensable.
Nano keeps the fuse burning over the elections
The Chairman of the Socialist Party, “The People in Protest” and “The People in Silence”
Nano has effectively placed the legality or illegality of the elections in the hands of the destructive elements of the Albanian crisis, in the hands of people who have taken up arms and are terrorizing several cities in the south of the country.

The DP will give the opposition room
President Berisha received Coordinator Katrin La Lymier
President Berisha explained during the meeting that in some areas in the south, the Prime Minister’s Party Committees are inflicting violence and terror on the population and, unfortunately, the chairman of the Socialist Party and the current government ministers from that party have been nominated in these committee areas.

There is no doubt that Albania’s transition turned out to be extremely difficult. The reason lies in the enormous contrast between Albania’s classical Stalinist dictatorship and the liberation that came so unexpectedly. Albania lacked an intermediate period. Other Eastern countries had such a period lasting around 25–30 years.
Fino deceives La Lymier
The Prime Minister blocks the distribution of ballot papers for four electoral districts
Grubmaj eri had to phone several times before Fino sent his adviser by helicopter to Rinas, where ballot papers for Mat, Korçë, Skrapar and Vlorë had been waiting for over six hours to be dispatched.
The OSCE Troika yesterday forced Socialist Prime Minister Bashkim Fino to take urgent measures to distribute the ballot papers for four electoral districts, which had arrived from Rome, freshly printed, at midday yesterday. The fact that, as of 7 p.m. yesterday, the ballot papers for one of the electoral districts in Mat, Korçë, Skrapar and Vlorë were still at Rinas airport because the Prime Minister, in his capacity as head of the Government Commission, was not allowing helicopters to depart to deliver them to the electoral commissions, alarmed the OSCE envoys.
La Lymier was taken by surprise yesterday during her meeting with Minister Belul Çelo when she learned that, contrary to what Socialist Fino had claimed in rebuttal, their distribution was not being delayed because of the Ministry of the Interior. Vranicki’s deputy head in Tirana, Grubmaj eri, had to make several phone calls during the meeting the ballot papers After discussing this situation with the Minister of the Interior, Belul Çelo, La Lymier and her colleagues said, “We hope there will be no problems on election day.”
