Real opposition

On Thursday, late in the evening, PD deputy in parliament Ethem Arapi, in a long public letter, clarified public opinion regarding what had happened and what is happening in the Albanian parliament, and explained to public opinion the reasons why he is facing with dignity and determination the attack being made against him. I think that parliament, born out of the March rebellion and the June 29 elections, is a government of 40 thieves and cannot possibly remain calm about this. Naturally, the party chairman and tribune of the center-right, Mr. Sali Berisha. His letter is short, but it is an open and forceful statement for the real opposition, for the opposition that refuses to become the tail of socialist power. At the same time, that letter is also a clear denunciation of the climate of political terror that is being installed in the Assembly. It shows that opposition deputies are being threatened, blackmailed, and pushed out of their roles through low political schemes. This is why the real opposition must speak up, stand firm, and refuse compromise with evil. It is not only about one individual. It is about the fate of Albanian parliamentarianism, about the very existence of the opposition as an alternative and as hope. If the opposition remains silent today, tomorrow it will be too late for everyone. He writes that in a normal state, parliament is a place for debate, not for pressure. But today in Albania, pressure comes from the majority, from the street, from weapons, and from those who want to turn politics into an instrument of fear. Therefore, this letter is not just a personal stance. It is a call to all those who still believe that Albania can have a real opposition, a free opposition with dignity.
