Government of protests It has been almost a week since the Albanian government was informed that the migrant from Greece got off the bus on which he was being deported to Albania. The Vlora gang leader, Zani Çau[?], appeared before the eyes of the Greek police in Kakavijë, when he was returning from Ioannina to go to Tirana, where he was supposed to appear before the prosecutor’s office. But as soon as he arrived in Kakavijë, he managed to escape with the help of someone else’s passport. The Nano government learned of the incident only two days after the escape, but the news was kept secret from the public for several days. Officials have given no official explanation as to how such a wanted person was allowed to leave, while according to various sources he was seen in the south of the country and later also in Tirana. Trying to avoid responsibility, the government has thrown up a smokescreen and given unclear versions of the incident. Meanwhile, the opposition is demanding full clarification and immediate measures against those responsible.
