Tirana warns Nano

The fifth day of protests against the installation of dictatorship, thousands of demonstrators say no to political crime Tirana warns Nano The National Council of the PD supports demands for the resignation of the officials of crime, “The spirit of the protests, the spirit of victory” The Government of Azem Hajdari's Wounds This Sunday, the strongest protests against the neo-communist government, the majority seized with the votes of crime, continued on the fifth day as well. Thousands of protesters gathered in the main squares of the country and the capital chanting “Nano go away”, “government of crime”, “freedom-democracy” and “Down with dictatorship”. With a record turnout of over 30,000 people in Skanderbeg Square and its surroundings, with a peaceful march to the Prime Minister’s Office, the protest was exemplary, calm and very dignified. The opposition led by the Democratic Party delivered the next day, on that Sunday, 21 September, a firm ultimatum to Nano’s government to step aside, since never before had this government inflicted so many wounds and such terror on the country as it did after 24 June. In a shocking speech, the chairman of the Democratic Party, Berisha, mentioned hundreds and hundreds of extinguished families, hundreds and hundreds of burned houses, hundreds and hundreds of girls and women raped, hundreds and hundreds of citizens drowned in hunger and violence, and hundreds and hundreds of children left in the streets. Berisha stressed that Albania on 21 September is a country where crime in power rules. The criminalized officials have brought law, courts, police, customs and administration to their knees and use violence as a political tool. He emphasized that the protest will continue until those responsible for the crime against Azem Hajdari are removed and the perpetrators of the killings, rapes and destruction of the country are punished. His speech underlined that the majority that emerged from manipulated elections and under the terror of gangs cannot govern Albania. Thousands of participants held banners and photographs, while the slogans “Nano go away” and “RD and Albania” were repeated throughout the rally. On the same day, the National Council of the PD met and approved a political declaration in which the opposition’s protest movement is unequivocally supported and the immediate resignation of the Nano government is demanded. The declaration emphasizes that the country is going through a dramatic situation and that the main responsibility lies with the government and the structures captured by crime. The National Council expressed its belief that the spirit of the protests is the spirit of victory and the return of democracy. At the end, participants were invited to continue the nationwide protests peacefully until the government leaves office. ON PAGE 3

The opposition of Azem Hajdari's wounds

When the full extent of the nanocommunists' government was revealed, hundreds of the dead in the riots organized and instigated by it for the overthrow of democratic governance and the installation of gang rule, they again try, through unrestrained propaganda, to hide their crimes. For months Albania has been experiencing a cycle of violence, terror, killings and robberies that culminated in the assassination of Azem Hajdari. This government, born from an alliance with crime, seeks to survive by manipulating public opinion and attacking the opposition. But the traces of crime are visible in every city, in every damaged family, in every desecrated institution. The opposition cannot remain silent in the face of this situation and will continue to denounce the political and moral responsible parties for this tragedy. In the protests of recent days it has been clearly shown that citizens no longer accept being governed by fear and by gangs. The name of Azem Hajdari has become a symbol of resistance against the return of dictatorship and against the capture of the state by crime. Anyone who seeks to minimize this reality seeks to erase from memory the blood spilled and the pain of thousands of Albanians. This is the battle between freedom and arbitrariness, between democracy and usurpation. ON PAGE 3
