The Fourth Congress of the Democratic Party held its proceedings on Tuesday morning and ended with the election of Berisha as its chairman. The hall, packed to capacity, was a magnificent display. Hundreds of delegates, especially in the afternoon session, but also after the proceedings ended, turned it into a huge rally celebrating the rebirth of this party. For the first time since its downfall, the PD last night staged a major opposition demonstration in the center of Tirana. The main opposition slogan that the country, “At the moment the most important thing is to return to power. All our energies, all our efforts, all our thoughts have only one purpose: to overthrow this government!”, was confirmed by the powerful cheers of tens of thousands of democrats in Skënderbej Square, where the place is decorated with inscriptions left over from the electoral campaign of 29 June. On Tuesday evening, hundreds of cars drove along “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard and the central ring road of Tirana with national flags and Democratic Party banners, arriving in Skënderbej Square, where tens of thousands of Tirana citizens shouted in one voice: “Berisha, Berisha!”, “Come on, let’s make Albania like the rest of Europe!”. Mr. Berisha's speech in the evening before the citizens, as well as the presence of other opposition leaders, showed that the right wing has entered a new period of mobilization.
