Students against the Nano government

The protests by the high-school inspectors in the capital are spreading across all of Albania Alongside the protest by the inspectors of the Foreign Languages School, students from the Pedagogical High School and the Polytechnic and Industrial High School in Tirana are also joining in, as are the inspectors of the Agricultural High School in Gjirokastra, boycotting classes until their demands are met Students say they expect funding from the government, not threats There has not been a single school in Tirana that has not been affected by the protest, no teacher who has not been threatened, and no student who has not heard over the course of days the threats and calls for a boycott. Yesterday at midday, hundreds of students gathered opposite the building of the Foreign Languages School, openly expressing their opposition to the Nano government. With banners and slogans they demanded a return to normality in education, the provision of textbooks and normal conditions for the conduct of classes. Students from the Pedagogical and Polytechnic Schools of Tirana also took part in the protest. A photograph on the page shows one of the rooms where the inspectors of the Foreign Languages School were killed and butchered. A broader report on these developments is given on page 2.
