Tropoja, the red line according to Nano

Today's government propaganda rally will give the final push to an already clear scenario. Its plan to silence the people of the north has been openly announced by Prime Minister Fatos Nano himself through the declaration of a state of emergency and the order to enforce it. This is not the first time that Fatos Nano has served Milosevic politically. He illegally closed the Albanian border with Kosovo. Albania was isolated so that it could become the prey of attacks by the Serbian army. Hundreds of aid shipments from Europe and America, intended for our Kosovar brothers persecuted by the Serbian genocide, were destroyed. The scenario to silence Tropojë and the people of the north is now entirely clear. Based on the state of emergency and the absurd order to enforce it, an order aimed at settling political conflicts with weapons rather than through dialogue, the Albanian government is preparing for a second act. By insistently postponing the local elections, which are disputed by the opposition and illegitimate under the current conditions, the government seeks to gain time to prepare its scenario of violence, exploiting its own reckless militancy. This is becoming clear, especially after the order to set up checkpoints and the dismissal of police officers and SHIK officers who oppose the absurd and staged curfew, through which the government has used violence and terror. As before, the government's scenario has two directions. First, to prepare the ground for military intervention in Tropojë, giving itself a pretext through provocations or staged scenarios and undertaking spectacular arrests, such as that of General Agim Shehu. The absurd order to close border crossings with Kosovo and set up checkpoints in the northern towns, especially in Tropojë, aims to isolate this city and create the image of rebel areas. It is precisely in this context that Fatos Nano's moves yesterday in this city and those of his four ministers should be seen. The second mission concerns the government's efforts to influence the electoral process in Tropojë through propaganda. Through the so-called electoral meeting, the government seeks to exert pressure on the right-wing electorate, which in the past has successfully resisted its scenario as well. To ensure the meeting's success, the government has ordered the intervention of the state administration and its militants in the Tropojë district. In this context, a visit by the Minister of Culture, Edi Rama, to the city of Bajram Curri has also been planned. In addition, the government has ordered teachers and students from the schools of Bajram Curri, as well as employees of the administration and private enterprises, to take part in the rally. It is also learned that socialist militants are being sent from several districts in the south to attend this electoral meeting. This is confirmed by yesterday's government order, according to which groups of people from Vlora and Berat will be sent to Tropojë to take part in the rally. The government apparently considers Tropojë a red line in its scenario because of the valuable contributions this district has made to all democratic processes in the country and its anti-communist resistance. Finding no argument to convince the citizens of Tropojë to support its candidates, the government has retreated to the path of staging a propaganda scenario. Today's rally serves this purpose too, through which the government tries to draw public attention while justifying the absurd order to set up checkpoints on the roads of the north. But this order in fact aims to isolate the northern towns and the north as political revenge against them, as well as to block opposition movements in these areas. Today's rally in Tropojë will be followed by renewed violence against the heads of communes and councils and against opposition candidates. This is the second phase in Fatos Nano's scenario. This is also the reason for the government's haste to hold elections contrary to every logic and against every opinion, exploiting the state of emergency and creating a climate of terror throughout the country in order to seize local power by force.
