The government of mafiosi with diplomatic passports

Instead of understanding the danger of a catastrophe on the scale of a second civil war, Nano and his government continue to ignore the fact that the hydra of corruption, with the black glasses of illegal trafficking, has deeply penetrated their rule. The affair of the enslavement of prostitution of Albanian women and of drugs has shaken international opinion. This is only the peak of the criminal activity of a part of the highest government leadership. The fact, made public only a few days ago, that officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued diplomatic passports to their relatives in order to facilitate the activities of drug and prostitution traffickers has caused a wave of reactions and outrage. The Italian press and television have revealed not only the names of some of the members of criminal groups arrested in Italy, but also their ties to people close to Nano’s government leadership, as well as the fact that they were granted diplomatic passports. Despite the government’s and Nano’s own efforts to dismiss this as a media sensation or as a case fabricated by the opposition, these accusations and facts have shaken the pillars of the government. Corruption and the narco-mafia are now emerging from hidden channels and appearing before the eyes of the international and Albanian public. The involvement of ministers’ family members and other senior officials in criminal activities is a serious sign of state capture. The Prime Minister, the Minister of Public Order, the Foreign Minister, and other ministers try to justify themselves and avoid responsibility. But new facts emerge every day showing that these are not isolated cases. Against this backdrop, the anger of citizens, especially young people, is understandable. They see how the power that should fight crime is itself turning into a refuge for it. This is a major alarm for the country. If the government’s ties to crime are not severed, Albania will sink even deeper into chaos and will lose even the few hopes for stability and integration.

Special forces police terrorize Gramsh

Violence and state terror against innocent citizens continue ON PAGE 9 At a time when the government, with Greece’s blessing and with Alivizatos’s signature, is continuing the total subjugation of the Albanian army and police with Greek generals and officers, Albanian citizens are being subjected to an attack by special police and military forces. Terror against innocent citizens continues every day, and they are made the victims of the government’s and its structures’ speculation and arrogance. At a time when the minister of public order and the Fatmir Nano government remain silent, his police officers and special forces have flooded the city of Gramsh and are carrying out arbitrary arrests and searches. According to local residents, this operation has been accompanied by physical and moral violence, unauthorized entries into homes, and threats against family members. Instead of guaranteeing order and security, the forces sent there have created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity. The opposition has described this act as political pressure and further proof that the government is using the state against citizens. In Gramsh, people’s anger is growing, while demands for intervention and verification of the legality of the operation are increasing.
