Nano, now at the head of SHIK
By Bilal Xhafa
Such a move inside SHIK may seem inexplicable, replacing Bashkim Gazidede with Fatos Klosi. This gave the impression, as it were, that a traffic rotation within SHIK had begun in order to understand even more clearly the coordination of Fatos Nano’s actions toward taking over this institution with his own people. He has now reached the point where he is trying to create his own police and counterintelligence structures.
With the appointment of Fatos Klosi at the head of SHIK, the Nano government is placing this institution under political control and giving it powers that take it outside its legal mission. This move is not simply a change of leadership, but a reorganization of the entire intelligence service structure.
In this framework, the latest moves are being interpreted as an attempt to create a service that responds politically only to the prime minister.

very special relations with the Millosheviç regime and its non-involvement of its military. This is attributed in the assessment of those who call Greece oriental, but its strong ties with Eastern Orthodoxy cannot be denied either. Greece, with its political class in government and opposition, but without any solidarity with the parliamentary majority, is giving support to the Serbian position. The purchase of arms and equipment with which Greece is supplying Serbia is in line with its traditional policy, in contradiction with the EU[?], the USA and Turkey.
The news, including the opposition of the Albanian nation, during these months clearly shows that Greece’s fierce campaign against coexistence in the region continues. This is no coincidence. Greek policy seeks to preserve traditional alliances and its influence in the Balkans.
These are some of the reasons that make it necessary to recall the Truman Doctrine as a decisive moment in containing communist expansion in Europe and beyond.
