Thousands of citizens in Sunday’s commemorative procession. A magnificent procession from “Skënderbej” Square to Sharra Cemetery
Today and always, Albanians will bring flowers to Azem Hajdari’s grave. He very quickly became a symbol of freedom and democracy, said Democratic leader Berisha of the hero of democracy. His ideals will never die.

forces converged yesterday in an important force standing against dictatorship. The Democratic Party, together with its allies, created the League Against Dictatorship, institutionalizing the most humane and most necessary struggle: the struggle to defend the values of democracy and secure a modern Albania.
While such a league of right-wing forces is based on cooperation, modernity and the country’s future, and on preventing the dictatorship emerging from the fossils of 1946, the left-wing camp is fostering even greater hatred toward Albania and toward the values of democracy.
Yesterday, a prosecutors’ broadsheet investigating crimes against humanity and armed insurrection was distributed to Tirana’s press offices. It was one of the longest things ever to arrive at our newsroom in the fifteen years this newspaper has been in existence. Anyone able to read it will understand that the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic is apparently populated by the same monsters who imprisoned and executed more than five thousand people, with and without trial, over 46 consecutive years; who imprisoned and interned more than 400,000 people; and who jailed people without any motive and on charges just as ridiculous as those made by these prosecutors themselves. These prosecutors are six senior officials of the democratic government, who make themselves just as ridiculous by opening a case for armed insurrection, arresting writers, and summoning—and likewise eating up the minutes of—senior leaders of the Albanian opposition.
This is the face of the governing coalition today: ridiculous, terrified and, moreover, self-serving in its tone and conduct, its vacillation in its steps and decisions, like those prosecutors who had decided to die for Albania after a bomb fell in the courtyard of a building. The passage here is garbled: it appears to refer to a bomb falling in the courtyard of a building on the fifth floor of which one of the chief prosecutors lived, and to them rushing off in a panic. Such is Albania’s chief prosecutor, Fatos Nano, who writes for a newspaper when it condemns him, and all the more so when power and its remnants are being crushed; he pretends to be optimistic when he thinks this man is at the head of the country’s governing structures. Such is this leadership and its supposed prosecutors, who have previously let criminals roam the streets and placed bandits in high government offices, while inciting and executing those arrested five days earlier: the director of Radio “Kontakt,” Alfons Zeneli; former ATSH director, Ilir Zilla; and former deputy director of TVR, Antoneta Malja. This is how the “coup d’état” has been portrayed—as embodied in free speech, democratic values, journalism, people and love, and institutions—when they are being trampled by people like Ardan Billi Klosti, Fatos Thanasa Nanos and others.
The prime minister, deputy prime minister and ministers who abandoned Tirana, the institutions and everything else, who shut the police inside police stations and let thieves loose over the shops of democracy, who hid in shops only when things blew up, are now making declarations about institutional and governmental purposes. Nobody occupies them at 11:00, when Tirana’s institutions were being directed by the government, and however much the ceremonies may be imagined as a major commemoration, all Albanians feel grief and pain at the same time, knowing what happened that day. That day there were no kidnappers, no special forces, no police officers, no ministers, no army—only a few people who faced the prosecutors’ trap and punishment, having survived on the fifth floor of the residence when a bomb exploded in the courtyard; they defended, with mines, the TV station, Parliament, the banks and all the other institutions. A normal people should have erected concrete barriers at the entrances to Tirana to ensure we would never return, and not put them wherever God wills, there where the Ministry of the Interior meets the headquarters of the Democratic Party.
Tomorrow, everyone to the protest
The “League Against Dictatorship,” which brings together all of Albania’s anti-communist parties, trade unions and associations, calls on all honest Albanians to believe in freedom and its values; on true patriots who aspire to a free Albania; and on educated people wherever they are in Albania to join the citizens of Tirana on Wednesday, September 23, at 17:00, in “Skënderbej” Square, for their peaceful protest against the neo-communist dictatorship of Fatos Nano, which is usurping the country with its old platform of persecution, beatings, imprisonment and killings.

The opposition is being killed in Albania
The Parliamentary Assembly of the CoE agrees to consider suspending the Albanian parliamentary delegation
At a meeting of the Assembly of the Council of Europe, an Italian parliamentarian called for the Albanian delegation, headed by Namik Dokle, to be suspended.
Italian Senator Valentino Martelli, a member of the UDR Centre group (led by former president Cosiga), said that the Nano government had violated the CoE Statute as well as the commitments it had undertaken, and that the Albanian parliamentary delegation should be suspended.
As evidence, Mr. Martelli cited the indictment of Democratic leader Berisha and the lifting of his immunity, the political assassination of Azem Hajdari, after which Fatos Nano’s [text unclear], night-time arrests on charges often dismissed by the courts, and the arrest of independent journalists, such as the director of the independent radio station “Kontakt.”
Parliamentarian Martelli’s objection met with no opposition and was referred for consideration to the Committee on Rules and Immunities of the Parliamentary Assembly of the CoE.

Macedonia’s secret service, serving Nano’s schemes
A statement from the PD press office says that Vllado Popovski, head of the Secret Service of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, declared, among other things, that he had information about Bukoshi and Berisha’s attempts to overthrow the government in Tirana.
With this statement, the Macedonian chief of secret police demonstrates that he is involved with those seeking to destabilize the southern Balkans together with Fatos Nano, on behalf of Belgrade.
