. Senior Democratic Party leaders, in a series of meetings held in recent days in England, Italy and Bulgaria, have secured full international support for the Albanian opposition and its efforts to defend democracy and Western values in Albania. All the Democratic Party’s Western partners, sister parties and various chancelleries consider support for the Albanian opposition vital to defending democracy in Albania, where neo-dictatorship is evident, regardless of the faces at the head of the former communist government. The friends of the Democratic Party and of Albania have demonstrated this support through a series of positions and public statements, resolutions adopted by governments, parliaments and important international institutions, as well as through direct visits to our country, now confirmed, to express their support for the opposition and solidarity with it in the face of the difficult conditions, terror and state violence under which it conducts its political activity and defends those principles and values sacred to the West. Support for the opposition not only from the Democratic Party’s sister parties, but also from other international forces, institutions and organizations, stands in stark contrast to the coldness and isolation of the government’s [unclear] in the political and governmental arena. The isolation of the government forces is also evidenced by the coldness accompanying the relations of various countries with the Albanian government, which, having written Nano off, are waiting to see the actions of his successor, who has promised continuity. After Majko was appointed head of the Government, Albania’s friendly governments and countries immediately welcomed the new prime minister, expressing this by ignoring him, with statements of courtesy. The stark contrast between the support enjoyed by the Albanian opposition and the scant support for Majko’s Government shows that the opposition remains an important point of reference for Albania among all foreigners, friends and supporters of our country. It was precisely the position of Western countries, their stances and their attention to most of the problems in the country, that opened the way for them to become the first source of information to classify Nano’s government as a government of political and common crime, smuggling and corruption, and as a government that does not respect democracy or its rules. It is precisely for this reason that support for the opposition continues to grow, even after the international opposition [text unclear] to Majko’s continuity was declared. Support for the opposition from international public opinion is expected to grow in the coming days, as the governing coalition has engaged in a series of absurd actions concerning the Referendum and the approval of this [text unclear] by the Albanian people’s voters in a humiliating and insulting manner. This support is also due, among other things, to another major reason: the murder of Azem Hajdari and the government’s silence, its failure to pursue the investigation into the murder and reopen the case, and its failure to apprehend the killers and bring them to justice. Comprehensive support for the Albanian opposition is not simply support for the opposition’s stance and policy in defense of democracy and its values, but, above all, support for the Albanian people, with their hardships and their struggle for democracy and progress. Support for the opposition is proof that the Albanian sacrifice will not be left alone, despite the former communist government’s efforts to isolate and utterly discredit it among the Albanian people.
