Terror of the referendum This was the seventh day of the SHIK scenario, carried out one day before the campaign in bombarded Shkodër. 17 vehicles and four private houses were burned and many others damaged after bursts of automatic gunfire were sprayed over them. An unprecedented panic gripped the residents of the “Perash” neighborhood of Shkodër last night, a city that experienced the most terrible nights since the first unrest of this year. Shortly after 8:30 p.m., while all public attention was focused on the end of the campaign for Sunday’s constitutional referendum, a large number of vehicles and armed men rushed into the quiet neighborhood. Private houses, vehicles and people came under a hail of bullets for no apparent reason. Residents of the neighborhood and local opposition leaders openly accused SHIK and the government of organizing the event. At the intersections of the main roads, vehicles without license plates and armed individuals were seen moving calmly. Columns of vehicles moved freely while the police were absent or stood powerless. Numerous witnesses said the attack was organized to instill fear and later justify political repression in the city. Many residents spent the night in anguish, while gunfire and fires continued in several parts of the neighborhood. The serious situation sparked strong reactions within the opposition. The years of power of the murderous SHIK and the anti-national, anti-democratic government of Fatos Klosi are being followed by furious, furious daily protests. On Friday, around 20,000 citizens, from “Skënderbej” Square, declared Fatos Nano, the chief general of the reds, an enemy of the people and of Albania. For the first time the country was witness to the mass revolt of hundreds of thousands of hungry and unemployed people. The bewildered “strong hand” of his government, frightened by the chaos of the popular revolt, is inventing alibis for terror. The reaction of the democrats has been measured and determined. The “strong hand” of the tens of thousands of citizens of Tirana will once again show that they are determined to save Albania from the scum and from the continued rolling of the country into the abyss. Tomorrow’s protest begins at 2:00 p.m. in “Skënderbej” Square. PD leaders assured yesterday that the demonstration would be peaceful but powerful. “There is no force that can stop the people” — is their message.
