PD, conditions for testifying about the murder of Azem Hajdari
To help uncover the truth about the murder of MP Hajdari, the delayed actions of the prosecution should not be replaced by the tactical action and procedure of justice that is hostile to the opposition in Albania, but by the creation of an independent investigative group.

The Democratic Party conditions its testimony on clarifying the murder of its MP Azem Hajdari on several essential criteria for a transparent and independent investigation process. In a lengthy press statement published yesterday by the party, it is stated that, in light of certain actions by the Albanian prosecution, continuing cooperation with this institution is pointless. The blue headquarters emphasizes that for nearly three months since the serious assassination that took Hajdari's life, Albanian justice has still given no effective sign of support for the investigation. “Having slept in a deep sleep and in a completely irresponsible manner for some time during the hottest period for investigations, the police and the prosecution managed, through their inaction, to lose very important evidence for uncovering the truth; now it is no longer possible to replace the gap created by the delay with procedural and tactical action by justice against the opposition,” says the PD statement.
According to it, through this behavior the prosecution has lost the opposition's trust regarding all the other actions it is carrying out. For this reason, the PD states that it conditions the giving of testimony before the Prosecutor General on the establishment of an investigative group independent of the Albanian prosecution and composed of prestigious foreign legal institutions. “The Albanian prosecution now has the duty to begin to understand that it cannot alone perform the functions assigned to it by the Constitution and the law, especially when its mission, because of incompetence, is failing so clearly. Not understanding this means playing with the fate of the country. Therefore, for the sake of truth, but also because of the sensitivity and repeated criticism of the international community toward justice institutions in Albania, it is now essential that the case of MP Hajdari's murder be assigned to an independent group of investigators from prestigious foreign legal institutions,” the statement emphasizes.
In the document, after presenting a series of facts and arguments, several other reasons are also listed for why, according to the party, cooperation with the prosecution cannot take place. “Hajdari's murder, of Albania's most popular MP, in an act of state terror, by order and with the assistance of the socialist state and government, initially aimed to incite a civil war in the country. It was carefully planned and is being carried out under a procedure of camouflage and random play and investigation for ordinary reasons. The entire chain of culprits is already there, where it began with the model of the order and its execution, with the active involvement of the executive, the political police and the judiciary. Their inaction up to the murder of MP Hajdari, the time gained for investigation after the murder, and every procedural action and inaction during the three months since that event, all stem from this model, and everyone clearly understands that to this extent the socialist government and the justice institutions are directly involved and guilty. It is clear that, with the insecurity prevailing in our justice system, because of the low interest of its structures, and with the socialist government having an interest in eliminating such a highly sensitive political issue, the General Prosecutor's Office and the directorates of the Ministry of Public Order cannot guarantee the independence and honesty of the investigation, so much so that today they can act as part of a commanded justice and not as an independent institution,” says the PD statement.
It also lists the actions, according to the party, that must be taken for this case to have a fair and impartial process. “If the socialist government and the General Prosecutor's Office feel their historical responsibility before Albanians and the world public, they must immediately request official assistance from prestigious international legal bodies. We believe the only solution for this case is the establishment of such a group to independently pursue the investigation into the murder of MP Hajdari. Only through the procedure of such a group are the Albanian public guaranteed professional and independent positions and a kind of minimum required security to obtain a credible result. This would also help restore trust in the prosecution and in justice in the country. Otherwise, the truth about MP Hajdari's murder would not only escape justice, but the consequences would be terrible for the country and for its bad image before public opinion and international institutions,” concludes the statement of the Democratic Party.
