The dispute between the village head Sandër Nikolli, 36, and the resident from Fishta, Mirditë and Markaj, 29, living in Mamurras, escalated yesterday into a criminal act, leaving one dead and one seriously injured. According to police sources, the cause of this crime was a car accident that occurred a few days earlier, between the bus owner Sandër Nikolli and a nephew of the victim. Yesterday's incident took place at around 12:00 noon, when Sandër Nikolli and several of his friends were having lunch at Valteri's place in Milot. Markaj, together with 8 other people, his relatives, went there, and after a verbal quarrel they came to blows. With the intervention of others, the fight was stopped, but both groups continued exchanging threats and insults. Later, Nikolli left in his van, with two other people with him, 14-year-old Enkelejda Nikolli and the young Vaskë Nikolli. When he reached the vicinity of Fushë-Milot, the van was fired upon with automatic weapon bursts by several people armed with Kalashnikovs. As a result of the shooting, 14-year-old Enkelejda Nikolli was killed and the driver, Sandër Nikolli, was seriously injured.
