Mejdani and Nano are delaying action on the smuggling case involving humanitarian aid, which is generally seen not only for the scandal itself, involving not just the previous government but the current one as well, but for the involvement of at least 80 government officials at various levels in smuggling activities. In days of government irresponsibility and opacity, this issue has drawn the attention of the entire public because of the lack of explanations and the complete disregard for the accusations made public. Yesterday’s parliament, which focused almost entirely on this problem, only deepened the contradictions and institutional evasions. PD deputy Genc Pollo stated that the prime minister can no longer justify himself through silence, while the president continues to keep important documents for the investigation blocked. According to him, the silence of the institutions is part of an attempt to cover up political and administrative responsibilities. The smuggling of humanitarian aid has thus become the hottest point of public and parliamentary debate.
