In our country, the institution of the Ombudsman is being established within the framework of implementing judicial reform and the rule of law, according to the models of the democratic countries of Europe. Discussion has begun in the parliamentary commissions on the draft law on the Ombudsman, prepared by the government. The Ombudsman will have the right to begin investigations at the request of citizens themselves, but also on his own initiative, if violations of the law are proven. He will submit annual reports to the Assembly on the activity of the state administration and will recommend the taking of appropriate measures. His powers extend to all levels of the central and local public administration, the police, prisons, as well as all other state bodies that perform executive functions. There are differing opinions on this issue in political and legal circles.
