The Prime Minister must fulfill the conditions

By Edl ALTOKA First, the PS government of yesterday was unblocked by the conditions of institutional reform and by certain politically staged injustices. If this government operates on the basis of the real interests of citizens and guarantees an efficient, depoliticized administration, then a real change in public life can be expected. But so far the signs show that Majko’s cabinet has still not met the fundamental requirements for order, law, and credibility. If democratic standards are not respected and corruption is not tackled, promises remain slogans. The state cannot be rebuilt with improvisation or clientelist appointments. Albania needs functioning institutions, independent justice, and a professional police force. These are the conditions without which neither stability nor integration can move forward.
