The pro-NATO gathering of Albanians sent a clear message that the Albanians of Kosovo and of all Albanian lands are on the side of the North Atlantic Alliance and its actions against the Serbian war machine. By Sami Nezha Kosovo from the example that divides Albanians and does not unite them?[?] The division of influence in Kosovo and its most visible manifestations have gone beyond the limits of a clan-based and provincial mindset; they have risen to the level of a secret political project that is revealing itself more and more from day to day. In street language, the division has supposedly been conceived and crystallized in the general orientation of which party leads and which one cooperates with Mr. Bukoshi's government. More precisely, the problem is now being raised in terms of which political formation or coalition saves Kosovo from the present crisis, except in terms of recognizing the right to govern the continuing ethnic cleansing of Kosovo as well. Precisely in the name of this rationalization, certain interpretations are being pushed, especially in Albanian journalism, according to which today's evil has its roots in the political representation of Kosovo Albanians in previous years. In the crosshairs are mainly Mr. Ibrahim Rugova and the Democratic League of Kosovo as the political force that was internationally recognized as the authentic representative of this nation's interests. It seems that the central argument trying to explain all this evil is built on the thesis that the main responsibility for the great human and material losses, the flight of more than 500,000 Albanians from Kosovo, etc., lay precisely with the democratically created institutions and, at their head, Mr. Rugova. Such theses are not only unjust and anti-national, but also dangerous for the political future of Albanians themselves. The road to Kosovo's independence does not pass through denying the political representation of Kosovo Albanians, but through strengthening it. The attack on the LDK and on Rugova in these circumstances serves only a dangerous scenario for dividing Albanians. Kosovo Albanians today need national and political unity more than ever. Any attempt to raise artificial conflicts among Albanian political forces serves only the enemy. (continued on page 2)
