UNICEF raises the alarm: everyone is threatened by hunger UNHCR: Our aid has been stolen The influx of collected aid lowers market prices Mitrovica is being emptied by Serbian massacres 150,000 displaced people heading toward Kukës From our correspondent in Kukës Sherri PIPOSHI The government is worsening the crisis For several days in a row, at the information center in Mitrovica, worried and alarmed citizens have been coming forward, saying their food supplies are running out. The UNHCR spokesman in Pristina stated yesterday that most refugee camps in Albania have been emptied of food, despite the many shipments arriving from foreign countries. According to him, there is a strong possibility that part of the aid was stolen during transport or distribution. Kosovars who have left their villages say they have been without bread and drinking water for days. UNICEF has warned that the food and health situation of children has deteriorated significantly and that many of them are at risk of death from hunger and disease. Mitrovica continues to be emptied of its Albanian population because of Serbian massacres and systematic burning. The expelled are taking the road to Kukës, where, according to the latest data, about 150,000 people have arrived. The large influx of collected aid has also affected the reduction of prices in the local market. A family arriving from Kosovo says that the violence has been constant and that the departure took place under the threat of weapons. The newcomers complain about the lack of shelter, food and medicine. ON PAGE 2 From the displaced person in Kukës Sherri PIPOSHI ON PAGE 2

During the meeting held yesterday between the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, and the prime minister of the Kosovo government in exile, Dr. Bujar Bukoshi, the situation in Kosovo, the political and military developments, as well as the drama of Albanian refugees forcibly expelled from their lands, were discussed in depth. Dr. Bukoshi praised the attitude of the Albanian people toward their Kosovar brothers and expressed concern over the obstacles being created for the distribution of aid.
