Dr-jemi mbasë, chairman of the Democratic Party, at yesterday’s press conference on the 16th anniversary of the first visit of former American secretary Xhorxh Bush to Tirana. Through a statement, PD has greeted and praised the decisive role of the USA and President Bill Klinton in the liberation of Kosovo and the спасing of the Albanian nation. On this occasion it was underlined that the Democratic Party has been and remains a steadfast friend of the USA. The statement also emphasized that Albanian-American relations are the foundation of the country’s Western orientation and of Albanian national security.

(Continued from page 1) Since at the head of the state apparatus stands the destabilizing and anti-national clan led by Nano and the anti-billionaire clan led by the Majko government, Albania, in terms of the speed and path of destabilization, is deepening its crisis and taking on the features of a Balkan country. The destruction of the rule of law, of the economy, of the administration, of public order and national security, and the creation of clans and various criminal groups, has led to nothing good functioning in Albania. President Mejdani is encouraging the escalation of this situation rather than preventing it, despite the ridiculous statements and justifications he presents, as was the case with yesterday’s declaration. Even in this statement, Mejdani shows no sensitivity to the fate of Albanians, no serious concern about saving the country from the catastrophe threatening it. One thing stands out in this statement: his vigor and commitment to defending those who created and brought the country to the brink of this catastrophe, the criminals in power. First and foremost, the President is trying to escape his own personal responsibility and that of his clan, which brought this tragic situation to the homeland. The President is trying to wash his hands of the evil he maintained and fed unscrupulously, without which this current anti-democratic system of power could never have been established. He is trying to present all the country’s problems only as consequences of the crisis in Kosovo, but Albanians know that Albania’s problems and destabilization have deepened day by day. The crisis and confusion were also clearly seen in the outbreak of yesterday’s political conflicts in Tirana. The President’s statement is a clear example of how the Kosovo crisis is used to protect a failed and corrupt power. Instead of addressing the people with calls for calm, responsibility, and strengthening of institutions, the President took on the role of defender of the government and its clans. He not only fails to condemn violations of the law and arbitrariness, but justifies them, thereby becoming part of the crisis himself. That is why he is the President of destabilization.

The murders of Azem Hajnari, Simon Mirushi, Sali Çeku, Sokol Bashota, and the attacks on the leadership, deputies, activists, and alternative leaders of the Democratic Party prove that a criminal clique is in power, one that stops at nothing to keep its hold on power. The replacement of moderate figures with obedient people from the top leadership is part of the same strategy. Within this framework also falls the attempt to politically eliminate Ibrahim Rugova, the symbol of peaceful resistance and of Kosovo’s institutions. The author of this initiative is the perpetual servant of power, Skënder Gjinushi, who through an anti-national and anti-institutional project seeks to deliver the final blow to Rugova’s legitimacy. For this initiative, Gjinushi has also found support from Sabri Godo, who echoes a dangerous political scenario to the detriment of the Kosovo cause.
