The news
Maks Velo blames
Dritëro Agolli for
his sentence, which, according to
the painter, was orchestrated by
the League. He heats up the de-
bate about the punishments that
came from this organiza-
tion, accusing the chairman and the
then secretary of the League
as the successful duo
of artistic crime.
By Admirina Peçi
Maks Velo says that his sen-
tence was directly orchestrated
by the League of Writers. He sees
that institution as a place of crime. In fact the iron duo
of the League, Dritëro Agolli-
Kujtim Buza, according to him, was the
most successful duo of artistic crime.
In the wave of writings about the League
of Writers, its vanished archives, and the sensational
punishments in the field of art and literature,
Maks Velo has set out to bring, in due time,
for readers, his memories of the time of his sentencing
and an analysis of the role Dritëro Agolli played as chairman
of the League in his sentencing as well as in the entire literary life of the time. Velo offers
“Shqiptarja.com” this account,
especially from one of his autobiographical
works, “Kohë antishenjë,” as
an attempt to shed light on all the shades and shadows
of his punishment,
and of his fellow artists in the League
of Writers. The uncompromising accusations
against the former chairman of the League, Dritëro Agolli,
seem very harsh
today, even though they are one side of
the medal of that history, silenced by the shadows of crime.

MAKS VELO’S ACCOUNT
“On July 24 and 25 the entire Plenum
of the League of Writers
and Artists was held. Dhimitër Shuteriqi
is relieved of his duties as chairman,
Dritëro Agolli is appointed; Vilson Kilica,
Ksenofon Dilo, Hamide Stringa are also
removed. Xhemal
Dini, Kujtim Buza, Anastas Kondo were brought in.
The darkest period of the League begins.
In his first report as chairman,
Dritëroi called art ideology and
all the serious mistakes in the creativity
of artists and in the activity...

Coffee with the doctor
By Anila Basha
Monday, 1 p.m.
the hour of insults
I got up early yesterday. I had a meeting with the
country’s prime minister and for that I had to
hurry. I had made up my mind. We would have coffee twice
a week. Not that I will replace the former Mero, or Fahriu, or maybe Fevzo today, but that is how we decided
for talks and consultations. Now the new newspaper Shqiptarja.com
has also come out, and some more conversations with the prime minister
must be had. Because the Albania that Shqiptarja.com writes about has many problems.
I – Good morning, Mr Prime Minister
He – Welcome, Anila, sit down. Coffee?
I – Yes, a coffee. (The secretary enters)
He – Tell me, Anila.
I – Listen, doctor, I have come for this
Monday problem. The meetings of the parliamentary group
of the PD, which are held regularly every
Monday. I have heard a great deal from all sides
and, to be honest, they have started talking.
At 1:00 p.m. the hour of insults begins. You no
longer know whom to insult most. Look,
for some time now you have been
busy with the President.
He vetoes the law on fertilizers,
you call it the Alliance for
Manure. He brought the decree
to Parliament, and you say why
didn’t you consult me. You make the 2012
budget, you cut the funds because you say the President might
use them for campaigning around the districts and
for creating his own party. Mr Prime Minister,
the parliamentary group meeting
of the PD has turned into an hour of insults
(recently) for the President. He really may be at risk
by creating a new party, but it would be good to soften the language of
hatred a little. Because in the end, the party that has been created
and the Lidhri, Kreshniku is also creating a party.
What is wrong with Bamir? When Shqiptarja.com
was launched, academician Qosja advised us: “Do not
report with insults and abuse.” And in order not to
prove the academician Qosja right, who told us
that we are living in a time without a system of values,
it is good that little by little we all contribute to
restoring the system of values. You up there
from the podium of the Prime Minister’s Office,
or Parliament, and we down there while we write
what you say. Because the people down below are
also highly politicized; once they were calmer, now
there is a lot of militancy. It seems there is also
a lot of hatred. It would be good to bring back commu-
nication, you among yourselves as politicians and us the
rest down below. Otherwise, you will find it hard to make
this country more democratic. If we all work
together, perhaps we will win the battle
to restore values. Because if we take for
granted that you are all involved in an
offensive of insults and abuse without cost, we will
have lost the battle within ourselves, and after that
the one for European values. That is why I say...
He – Ms Basha, I have another meeting now.
We’ll discuss this topic.
I – All right, doctor, let’s leave it for the next meeting.
Goodbye.
(The conversation with Berisha is imaginary)
...if we take for
granted that you are all
involved in an
offensive of insults and
abuse without cost, we will
have lost the battle
within ourselves,
and after that
the one for European
values...
TODAY’S PRESENTATION
By Edi Rama
I would not have mentioned Ariana’s name if it were not for
her friendship with my mother,
our old family friendship with the Fullani family,
a fact that made it all the more shocking for my mother
the violation in the courtroom, where
Mrs. Fullani, for reasons that only she
knows, though they are not hard to
imagine in this country, chose to commit a great injustice by
insulting the law and the constitutional moral principle of equality before the law in
the trial of a case that involved facing the blackened arrogance of power with the fragility of
a 71-year-old woman who proudly sought to reclaim for herself
the dignity stolen and held hostage by
the screen before all Albanians.
Rama, accusations against the judge over Aneta
Kurban/ The unpublished part of the PS leader’s book on the trial against Berisha is released
In the absence of the courage to
take the side of the law, the senior judge could very well
have spared herself this shame by
withdrawing at least on the grounds of a conflict of interest, precisely
because of her connection and friendship with
Aneta, something that in the sad decay of morality...
